Default Installed Strut bar - snapping sound from removing wiper plastic guard

I just installed my strut bar. During the install, several things happened.

When I went to remove the black guard that covers the windshield wiper motor, I started by removing all the plastic tabs. Once they were all removed, I lifted up from the edge on the battery side of the engine bay. I heard a snapping sound. I'm confused as to what that was.

Is there supposed to be a clip or latch that hold the windshield wiper guard tight against the windshield? Because the only plastic tabs that I removed were 4 round tabs and 4 rectangular tabs that held that rubber seal in place.

Are there other tabs/clips that I might have broke off?

Is there supposed to be a sealant between the guard and the windshield? It seems to me that water would seep in between.

I'm a bit worried.

Thanks,

Dont be worried bro, if its your 1st time taking that off its gonna be a little tough like anything u take off for the 1st time so you will hear all sorts of horrific sounds from time to time. I only have 2 of those plastic things holding that baby in there lol, you will be fine!

see that's what I'm worried about though. It is the first time that windshield cowl has been removed...

But to me it def. sounded like a snapping. And the last thing I want is for water to start seeping in and drenching that windshield wiper motor.

How's it holding up with just 2 retaining tabs?

did you forget the clip that is under the rubber weatherstripping? there is a T-shaped clip in there that's the one that makes the snapping sound. but you said you removed them? well that's the one i know of making that noise..

yeah don't think anything snapped. I think it was just the plastic piece (the cowl) hitting the car.

My bad if this is slightly off topic but I replaced those damn pins that hold the cowls in with bolt/nuts. 4 in total. I really don't like those pins.

The center of the cowl snaps in, so when you remove it don't be alarmed if you hear snapping noises. Evenly lift it out. (Just don't forget the little snap in pins inside the hood cowl seal that attach to the chassis).
