I bought my car back in august. i did a tag transfer from my civic to my tC. i paid close to $110 for the transfter. installed the old tag on to the tc at the dealership. left there with no problems. About a month later, toyota sent me a notification that i needed to pick up a new tag for my tc... i called them and they said i needed to pick up my new tag and pay them $120 for it. ok... why did they make me a new tag when i did a tag transfer. i told the guy that they probably mixed something up and i told him that i did a tag transfer and did not request for a new one. he said it was ok, and they probably messed up. so i hang up thinking everything is just fine now...
Until last friday when i tried to renew my registration(the tag was going to expire march 6, yesterday). the auto tag agency refused to renew my tag, it is because Toyota nevered did a tag transfer. the tag that i was supposed to pick up was the one Toyota registered. so i have been driving around 7 months with a unregistered tag(old tag). i called toyota right after i went to the tag agency, they said they messed up my tag registration along with 20 other people... holy sh*t they messed up big time.
they asked me to come in and see service advisor(Gladys) at around 10am saturday, that is when she comes in to work. i got there at 10am, but she is not in yet. so i wait for 25 minutes in the waiting area. i had to be at work at 11am, so i asked the receptionist if i could leave the info with her and if she could give it to Gladys when she comes in. she said ok. so she photocopy a few items(the items were proof that i did signed and paid for a tag transfer). as she was copying the items, she notices that the tag expires the next day. so she asks me if i wanted a temp tag. i said of course, because the tag that is on my car isn't even registered.
the receptionist started the process of getting me a temp tag. after about 15 mins, the lady that does the temp tags, she stops and says she can not authorize it unless a manager approves it. so the receptionist asked a manager and they approved it. the temp tag lady then continued to finish my tag. i overheard the manager talking about my situation to a coworker. he said it in a near whisper, but heard him. he said,"that idiot over there needs a temp tag and he got his car back in august, blah blah blah and we shouldnt give him a temp tag" i was about to go off and start a huge fight, but i am holding it off. i am going to report this little incident to toyota.
i am going to call toyota in a few minutes and dispute this matter. i still have the temp tag on my car and i am NOT going to pay another $120 for a new tag that i did not want in the first place. i have nevered been put in this situation before any ideas would be appreciated.
