Default stupid? Rear wing and gas milage

I had my scion for 1 week and get 35mpg. Then I added a CF rear wing and hood and my next tank was between 28-29. Then I added dual exhaust and lowered it and it's still 28-29. I didn't wait long enough to baseline it. Anyone else see any differences. It seems hard to to believe, but aero is really effective.... :

Well for the rear wing...how is it positioned? Is it angled up by chance? and if yes at what angle

35mpg?...i don't think so, maybe you calculated wrong Most all of us get around 26-28 mpg. I get around 28 with the wing AEM intake and trd exhaust and 18" rims

I completely agree... changes in where you shift and what not all affect efficiency

YOU will never get a accurate reading or a constant reading because, every day you think ur driving is the same but its not. its always off by a little
u can be stepn on the gas more then you are on any other day its never an Exact Preciision amount of pressure or driving you do every day, road conditions can be effective, so can weather. its never going to be a constant measurement of mpg n what not. read thte window sticker if u have it, it notes that mpg may very due to different driving conditions. good luck

It is very difficult to fill the tank consistently. If you don't get it full each time, the mileage will look way high for that fill, and quite low for the next fill.

With patience you can get the thing full each time you calculate mileage, but be careful not to spill gas on the paint!

I hate it when they do that here in Dirty Jersey. You pull in to fill up, and the knuckleheads force more in when the pump clicks off. Everytime i have to tell them to "Let it stand, no more." Otherwise, they over fill it, and then it pukes up all over the paint, does wonders for the wax. This is going to be a real issue with my RS1, none of those Pump Station Bastards will get fuel all over the side of my new ride.

BTW ... reg. unleaded $1.40 a gallon in South NJ

There's no way you got 35mpg. You're doing something wrong, and it seems like you just figured out how to do it correctly when you added the spoiler.

I remember the summer of '73, when gas soared from 40 cents to (gasp) 75 cents per gallon! Of course, in today's mini-dollars that is more like $2.50.

No wonder it seems like every third person in SoCal is driving an H2!

My is avg. 28
What I did is fill the gas to the point that it spill out
and then drive for about 250 miles, and then go back fill the gas again to the point it spill again. So I can get more accurage galon of gas been used. And drive again for another 250 miles... fill in the gas again.

I got avg of 28 because sometimes when I see those little Civics I tent to race with them... other than that just normal freeway driving.

Compare to my other car which required 91oct. and get me about 15PMG... its all good no matter if its 35 or 28

To be I don't think you can get to 35, but maybe you can. When you travel at the place that there is no hills, stop lights and traffic like LA, I think you can.

Let's see, I'm lowered, have 17s, Injen intake, Tanabe axleback, and I still get 30 mpg doing 80 mph on the freeway. I drive at least 160 miles/day roundtrip.

I got 36 MPG! But that was when it was all freeway driving and I was drafting a black H2 the whole time. Worked great.
Wind blockage and aerodynamics makes a big difference. I got about 29mpg without the drafting.
