I don't know if "broke down" is the right term, more like froze up. I was driving and all of a sudden all the warning lights on the dashboard lit up and the power steering went out. As I pulled over I noticed I could still accelerate but once I stopped and turned off the car it wouldn't turn back on, no clicking, nothing when i turned the key.
So here's what I know-
-Its not the battery, lights work, radio works, tow guy was gunna jump it but confirmd the battery is fine
- Its not the engine, before I turned the car off the engine was still running just fine
-Its not the starter, the car was already running when this happened so the fact that I couldn't start the car after I turned it off shouldn't have anything to do with the starter
A similar thing happened to me. Once I somehow got it started again, I drove home with no power steering and it completely gave out on me when I was close. Turned out it was my alternator.. Lord knows what happened to it, this was before my sound system. Warranty covered it though, needed a new one.

Yep, either broken belt or it could very well be the starter or starter solenoid. If you're not hearing any click I would look at the starter solenoid first.
