Default Q: about Suspension

Ok, i bought the trd lowering springs and am ready to put them on, however i was wondering if i should wait and get the trd shocks/struts too. the reason why i ask is because my buddy put some lowering springs on his car ( not a tc ) and his damn struts/shocks have no dampening anymore and he keeps bottoming out. so now hes getting the dampner for his car. Any info would help, thanks!

The struts would help and be an overall improvement although it shouldnt be necessary with the TRD springs. They dont have that drastic of a drop and should be fine...

was the shock bottoming out on yer friends car?? or whas it the bump stop?? when u use lowering springs you have to modify the bump stops to allow for more compression in the shock. if u dont, then, yea, the shock will "bottom out". there are after market bump stops available that are already shorter, if you dont wanna cut your stockies. tell yer friend to do the bump stops first, then see about a new shock. rock on

Typically when you lower a car on stock dampers you have to not only worry about them bottoming out, but also that they are not operating in the intended range. This will prematurely wear out the damper. Also when you upgrade to higher spring-rates oftentimes the damper is not strong-enough (for lack of a better word) to effictivly do its job.

I would not worry about those issues with the TRD springs. Because they are a factory option, toyota would have taken all that into consideration. :-)
