6-speed
im sure if you droped there 1.8l engine in it would work with that trany but i dont think you can just pair up the 2.4l we have with there tranny
and i just checked the matrix its another 1.8l
lets work on getting the 4wd off the rav4 on our tc's that would either be realy cool or make the car handle funny some one should try it

Fine step it up to ScionSpeed Stage III with some other upgrades. Ah screw I'll just buy the Evo.

I think the tC 5 speed is geared well enought to not need a 6 speed. It would only be good for lower reving while highway cruzing above 80mph. But the way it is now, you dont' need to downshift to pass people.
The main reason I'd go with a 6th gear is too decrease the cruising RPM's at 75 -80mph. It would be nice to have the car at a stable 2500-3000 RPM's instead of 4000. But the number one reason would have to be so that when we do eventually get one of these turbo kits, the 6th gear would up our top speed (pending limiter removal) without needing a total re-gearing of our stock 5-speeds. Basically it would be great to have the option. Isn't that what Scion's all about, options?

So instead of regearing the 5 speed, you want to do a whole tranny swap!
I guess my problem is the only 6 speeds i've driven, Nissan SE-R Spec-V and Acura RSX Type S, did not seem to need or take advantage of the 6 speed. Not enough power, I guess.

It may not be the cheaper way to go but it's definitely quicker and takes less experience. I prefer not to disassemble my tranny and would rather swap, it's just easier. Plus then I'd have a spare.
Why does a car necessarily need to be powerful to benefit from a 6th gear? A 6th gear by definition is a 2nd Overdrive gear and really has no purpose in racing (unless you have the power). The Celica GT-S, SE-R SpecV and RSX Type-S are all not very powerful but the have them.
