Default Well, it's ordered.

Took a trip to the dealer and ordered my xA today.

Manual
Silver
Curtain Air Bags
Security System
Mud Flaps
Alloys

Everything else I'll do myself or with the help of some other scion owners in the area. . . . . First I need to MEET some. haha.

I wanted the Phantom Gray Pearl. But those are apparantly back ordered like crazy. And my wife has a silver Saturn. So we'll be a matching pair.

Plus it will match my Powerbook and Treo650.

I'll not be putting the vanity plates on it from my New Beetle. I couldn't do that to the Geek. So I'll get whatever plates they give me and think of a personalized plate for when I renew next.

so now, the waiting. She said she'd have it probably by Wednesday this week.

Congrats!
I ordered side-curtain air bags on mine
and had to wait 5 weeks because of it, but worth the wait

Okay. So now I'm starting to double-guess getting the silver.

I don't know why. Maybe it's because when I bought the VW, it was the color on the lot and it was the color I wanted and I just drove off in it. But I'm not sure I'll be happy with silver.

Then again, maybe its just buyer's remorse. GAH! I hate waiting!

So, I've figured out why I'm so antsy about the Silver xA.

I can't think that I've actually SEEN one. Except for on the scion.com site, which are smallish pics. I've been drooling over the Phantom Gray pics and not really been paying attention to Silver.

Don't worry. I'm over it now. heh.

stop playing with my emotions!!!

heh.

So, I just got a call from my dealer. She said she may be able to get me a Phantom Gray xA after all. Apparantly there's one with 300 miles. She said the warranty doesn't start until I take delivery, so that's not an issue.

I'm assuming this is a lot car. Perhaps a test driver?

Should I be concerned? What should I look at before I take delivery?

Hey, for what it's worth, I'm only 45-50 minutes from Baltimore, and my local Scion dealer has a new silver and a new phantom xA in stock right now. It's Hanover Toyota/Scion. If you contact them, ask for Phil. He's cool.

Okay. This is getting ri-ding-dong-diddiliy-diculous.

I've told the dealer repeatedly, my wife is going out of town for a week Thursday morning. I ask, will we be able to sign the paperwork and pick up the car before Thursday morning? She keeps telling me she'll call me when she's got the car.

It's now 9:47AMThursday morning. No calls. I call the dealership to find out if we can at least get something signed before my wife leaves.

IT'S HER FRICKIN' DAY OFF!

Now, I don't know if it's her normal day off or if there's an emergency or something. But not having been called in a day or two after she said she'd call me in a day or two already had me a little miffed.

Not quite sure this is worth it.

Well, it's easy for me to say it's worth it, but I'm not there.
That sucks about the dealer. My dealer loves me so much, that when they thought for a moment that I might go to another dealer to buy the xA, the very next day they had the xA I wanted, the way I wanted it. Signed the paperwork that evening. Hell, I'm pretty sure they gave me seven grand for WHISPER because they did not want to lose the deal.
Hope it works out for you.

Well, I've got another dealer in town looking at their inventory right now for me.

My only concern is the $200 deposit we have at Dealer #1. That should be refundable, right? I've never had to ask for a refund from a dealer before.

You should be able to get a refund. Or you could go thru your bank and do a stop payment. For a small fee of course. I had problems getting my Xa as well but it's worth it.

Okay. This is mostly taken from an IM conversation with my friend. So excute the spelling and grammar. ;)

------

I called the Sales manager and told him all that crap and he's like "I'm really sorry about that. Here's the deal. . . "
He explained that out of the 47 xA's delivered last allocation period, only SEVEN had the side curtain arbags.

Apparantly, it's more important to most people who buy these cars to get LIGHT UP CUP FRIGGIN HOLDERS, than to save their sorry azzes in a collision.

So there are two left in the five-state radius they can trade between dealers. And the one they were getting for me is being held on to by that dealer. They don't want to let it go.

I'm like "that would have been fine if I had been told that instead of 'we can get it before your wife leaves'" So he's like "We can keep trying to get this. If we can't, it'll be mid-april befroe next allocation. I can almost guarantee we get it then because we can preference your order."

Okay. So I tell him that's good. And asked him to keep on the local one. And call me with updates. That's all I ask. He tells me he'll call me by 3pm today with a status.

Not 20 minutes later, evelyn, the sales lady (who is OFF today) calls me.

She's like "uhhh. I just checked my messages. . Umm. . . I'm sorry it's taking so long. Tom told me the status. He'll take care of this. . . blah blah blah blah\"

OMG. He must have chewed her out.

I ain't calling her back. heh

So. maybe another 30 minutes pass. My wife and I are "saying our goodbyes" *wink wink* and my phone rings.

I let it go to voice mail. It's Tom. with "good news"

the car will be here at 6:30 tonight

One snag. Evelyn said it was enough for Mandie to just sign the title. So she did. first and last name.

I ask Tom if that's good and he's like *SIGHS* she has to sign it EXACTLY like on the front. first middle last. But he says, we'll put it through and cross that bridge if we have to.

I'm going to give this guy so many props.

and I wasn't even trying to be a trouble customer. ya know?

^^^ There you go. See, I think that SCION dealers (for the most part) want to make the deal. They hope you become a TOYOTA fan for life, by starting with the SCION.

Good to here it. And, don't forget the PICS.

My wife and I drove to PHX from Tucson to get our PGP xA. It was PHX (1 at all the dealers) or San Diego, that was if we could get to San Diego before someone bought the car. PHX worked out great. The one with 300 miles on it... sounds like it was driven from a dealer swap.
It's worth it. Did you go PGP or Silver. Don't forget to take the long way home from the dealer. I'm in the hunt for a Dark Shadow Gray Lightning to match the xA, so my garage will be complete opposits, "The sensable and the insane" Simple enough to see who drives which in our house

Well, he's sitting out in my parking space right now.

The xA hadn't arrived from the other dealer by the time I got there. Got stuck in traffic. So I filled out the paperwork and was about done when it arrived. A quick trip out for gas and to the car wash and he came back all clean and shiny.

I did the financials and was on my way out the door.

It turns out the other car that was available was a silver. But it went this morning. I was damn lucky they were able to get this Phantom Gray one for me. Apparantly, it was at it's second dealer, after being dealer traded already once before. The guy who ordered it didn't want it when he was it had been driven from the first dealer (*waaaaah!*) What a moron. But they thought he might change his mind and come back. Hence them holding on to it.

The rims, mud guards and keyless/security system will be installed Tuesday. (Yes, I confirmed the day with Evelyn TWICE ;))

I didn't put LilGeek's personalized plates on it. I figure I'll live with these standard ones for now. Then get personalized plates when it's time to renew.

For now, I've replaced the antenna with LilGeek's antenna. TJ once said that the soul of a car is in it's antenna. So I nicked LilGeek's before I let it go. I put on a billet stubby that I bought but never liked. TJ, did you notice the Scion stock antenna is nearly IDENTICAL to the VW? I was surprised.

Yes, I knew the stock antenna on both the xA and nB are the same. Matter of fact, the tC has the same as well. Now, why the xB does not have the same antenna, (besides it's being in the glass), illudes me.

I saved WHISPERS antenna as well, however, that was a HONDA S-2000 antenna. But I feel that it had been on WHISPER so long, it was hers, really. And I noticed, that for some odd reason, SPIRIT, well, growls like WHISPER did.

Hope you enjoy your new car.
