wiring help please

I just recently bought some drl's and here is my situation. One wire isn't long enough to reach the fuse box. Could i perhaps wire that set to the other wire so that i can run power to them? Also how do you actually wire the wires to the fuse box. Im not exactly sure how to do this.

Use the search bar in the forums and type in "Audi style DRL" That will help you with wire placement/fuse info. Several of us have tried to find a place in the under hood fuse box that does not have power constantly, but couldn’t. Seems if you wire it there, lights will ALWAYS be on, even when the car is not. As far as bridging the 2 wires together, It could cause too much power to be drawn through the first wire aka Amps and cause the wire to melt (or worse) So, you need to figure out the amps of each light, may be on the box or the light itself, and also the amps that the wire can handle, should be printed on the wire. Example: each light draws 10 amps, each wire is capable of running 20 amps = you’re good. if each light draws 15 amps, and the wires can only handle 15, probably shouldn’t rig them together.

I AM NO professional however; this is just things I have read when I was doing my DRL's.

the easiest way is to tap into the parking lights or the headlights since they are RIGHT THERE!

that'll take you 20 min and the project is done!

REMEMBER, you dont need to run both wires to wherever the power is! The ground can be attached anywhere on the car!

Also ALL GROUND wires on the car are Black/White ones.

Use 18/16 gauge wire and you'll be fine all around.

However when installing anything electrical in your car, put in an In-line fuse, they can be bought at radio shack.

thank you scion 202. however i just want them to be on whenever i turn the ignition on. I don't want to have to turn my lights on to have them on you know. any knowledge on that before my dad and I attempt this?

i gave u a link to the wiring diagram. I dont know off the top of my head where each wire located. You're best bet is using the wiring diagram and a multimeter.

Make sure to put in an in-line fuse after ur DRLs or you can blow many other fuses in the car and the car may not start.

If i remember correctly from some other thread, the fuse box under the hood is always hot and the fuse box under the dash is hot when the ignition is on. Check the manual, it might say something.

^^^ what he said. I spent at least an hour in the engine bay with a multi-meter looking for anything that did not have constant power, but never found a spot. That's why I went to the interior fuse box.

Well I wouldnt I want a constant power of 12 v running to my drls? So wouldn't that mean the best way to run them is right to the engine fuse box

You want ignition. Not something that's always on. Dont just randomly put DRL because there is 12V on some wire.

You may have been on the "other" side of the wiring but im not sure
