Being that I have a Mustang backgound is anyone running a flowmaster on the xB ? I would have thought it would sound like crapola, but I heard a soundclip on the Flowmaster website for the import series muffler they make. In the soundclip on the site the muffler is on a Integra R, which I know is a whole different engine but could it sound good on the xB ?
Flowmasters have a great rep. for sound as well as horsepower & have been in the buisness for quite some time, would they make something that would sound like crap ? Probably not likely.
Just something I was thinking about, let me know what you all think. Just don't be too brutal. Hit the 10 day Poll up top if you would like. I know exhaust systems & sounds are all in what you like to see & hear so, I am just interested in your opinion & whether or not you would try it on a Scion without hearing it first
I think I may just have to do it then. I have always loved the sound of the Flowmaster Mufflers. They are very deep in tone which is more of the sound I am after, not to mention the HP gains.
Like I said I know it isn't the same engine by any means, but that Integra R soundclip really got me wanting to try it.
talk to grizzly choppers. (Alex) he has the "Flowmaster Hushpower II" on his xB. I think it sounds really bad ___ It was a custom one off made for him though. I know this isnt about Import Series or whatever, but its Flowmaster and thought it may help ya a little bit. It gives a deep rumble, without the obnoxious buzzing. It sounds leans more towards "Mustang" than "Civic." Hope this helps.
ill see if Alex can get a soundclip... youd honestly be suprised. it sounds better than TRD and magnaflows catback IMO. and these were beside each other testing. not just some random sound clips
Flowmasters aren't as "flow" friendly as the name may imply, they are actually much more restrictive than a good straight-through (Magnaflow).
Flowmasters make sound -- not power. On an INLINE 4 cyl they make a sound that is unfriendly to my ears, but on a 5-0 Mustang, they sound awesome.
Yeah this is pretty damned true , on large displacement motors flowmasters suck for flow but create torque via backpressure good for towing and dragging .
I just dislike the sound the import series mufflers make , i dislike the tone , another thing is they don't loook as good as other muffler's I've seen , like they're trying soo hard but still come up short.
hotbox - Man I was waiting for you to check this out, I love when you find my posts cause you are brutally honest with me ! LOL
So my question is, what don't you like about the flowmaster & what would you run & why?
Thanks for dropping in on me again !
Yeah , i'm pretty blunt , but oh well at least U like it most other people think I'm just a hardass. Read above that's pretty much my take on it. If you want to run an obscure good sounding muffler check out ANSA , good stuff they just came out with import and canister style mufflers within the last two years , great quality nice tone , a little steep tho. but you'd be just about the only person running it.
I'm also going to get the import series flowmaster I'm just waiting for the right time. I've been using flowmaster on all my cars and trucks that I've had and their the best! A lot better than magnaflow. Once I get my setup on I'll post sound clips and pics.
I dont wanna turn this into a flame war but kidkamel , you know that traditional chambered flowmasters create less power than a wide open performance magnaflow.
