According to GReddy, the lug pattern is what it had been rumored to be, 5x100. I've seen a lot of people saying they wished Scion had gone with a larger pattern.

Personally, as a tC1 owner, I'm stoked. Because that means I now have three sets of wheels that I can interchange between both cars.

just making comming across good wheels that much harder. you can get almost every wheel that comes in 5x114 in any size 5x100 just makes it harder.

 

Ultimately I don't mind. Pending high sales numbers of this car along with the BRZ will make finding high end 5x100 wheels easier in the future.

I have mixed feelings on this, there may be more offerings for higher end wheels but what sizings will be offered? I'm sure there'll be some wanting some agressive setups but the majority I feel will be close to stock width and offset. Guess it'll be something we'll see later in the year.

 

Well, like GReddy did, you can just add an adapter. I mean, I'm not an expert on wheel set up specifically, but if they trust an adapter, than I would.They suggested MACKIN IND.

But, I'm a sucker for powder coated factory wheels myself.

 

As a tC owner who's gone to the hassle of re-drilling 5x114 wheels to fit my car, I think this is a mistake on Toyota's part. However, I assume it's partly because of Subaru who also use 5x100.

 

Considering basically the entire suspension is from the GR chassis WRX, I'm not too surprised the wheels are 5x100. There is quite a bit of selection for wheels, so people shouldn't be too concerned.

There are also many, many tuning parts out there already if you're resourceful and get the full details on what parts are from what chassis.

 

So who's to say the 5x114.3 from some STI's wont fit? Hub swap anyone?

I was hoping it would be a little larger as well, like 5x114. It's tough finding wheels in 5x100 sometimes.

I work for Toyota/Scion, and still, I find most of my info on forums and reviews. I don't get any insider info. haha

There's a couple FT/GT-86/BRZ/FR-S forums out there, that are full of good stuff, that's how I found out about the lug pattern. Someone looked at a spy photo, got a number off of one of the wheels, then matched it to the wheel manufacturer's data to get the lug pattern.

So if you do a little searching, the offset might be out there.

 

I'm okay with 5x100 as long as there's aftermarket motivation to make wheels for it. As a 1st-gen tC owner, I'm already bought into 5x100 anyway, and the wheel size on the FR-S is nearly an exact match to the 1st-gen tC (215/45/17 tires, 17" wheels; not sure about the width and offset, but the 1st-gen tC was 17" x 7" wheels, with +45 offset). With 5x114 and 18" standard wheels becoming more popular, the wheel options for us 5x100ers had been shrinking, but hopefully now the 86 / FR-S / BRZ will motivate wheel manufacturers to sell more 5x100 designs.

Super Street said +48 in their Sodegaura Raceway article. Not official, but sounds plausible, next to the 1st-gen tC's standard size of 17 x 7.0 +45.

One wheel I'm looking at right now is the Work VS-XX. Available in many sizes, in 5x100, though it has a long lead time. I'd love to find out if 18 x 9.5 +32 would fit, along with 245 width tires.

Well, I've had a change of heart; the VS-XX's would be wicked heavy at that size. Someone else can go for those; I'm going to go with Volk TE37's in 17" x 8" +38. TRD already had the N0 performance package 86 with the TE37's, but I don't remember if they were 17" or 18".

 

Damn, you must be ballin'! lol when are you plnning on getting the FR-S?
