The jack for the iPod connector in my Scion xB (200 has gone bad. It's loose - the sound only comes out of one speaker, and the dealer says it will cost almost $200 for a new jack, plus the labor to install it. Can I find one online somewhere cheaper and have a local stereo/alarm place replace it?
(BTW, it's definitely a bad jack and not the cable or iPod itself, and CDs and the radio sound fine, so it's not the speakers).
Is it the USB jack that's bad or the 1/8" stereo jack? In either case, you can buy replacement jacks, but you'll need to solder them onto the stock wires. Not hard to do, but needs a careful hand because of the tight confines of the console.
It's the 1/8" stereo jack. I'm not a solderer, so I'm planning on taking it to a car stereo/alarm specialist and having them hook it up. But yes, if you know of the specific part number and a link where I can buy it, it'd be great!
You can get them straight from the dealer and they should just clip right into the harness. I just broke the one on my 2010 and it's like $125 but mine has both the 3.5mm headphone jack and the USB. I am trying to find a used one cheaper but I haven't come up with anything yet.
