The other day I purchased a new Pioneer AVHP8400 unit to replace My old stock Pioneer iPod stereo on my '07 TC. I love this thing but but I seem to have lost my BASS that I used to get from my old unit.
I have the enclosed optional Bazooka sub and it was perfect my car. I don't need "car show" insane Bass but if you have/had this setup then I would hope you know what I mean.

I'm just not getting that kick that I used too. Before it sounded like the bass was separate from the rest of the speakers but now all the lows seem to come from everywhere and its a sh*tty Thick bass sound, not the nice lingering BOOOM that I used to get. There is a HIGH PASS FILTER that supposedly separates the bass from sub to other speakers but still hasn't had any effect.I've messed with all the setting to try to get the best sound but no deal.This is actually so upsetting that I'm considering taking the unit back.

So I guess what I want to know is if there is anything I can do to get the bass back? Would I need to add an amp? Maybe I'm not getting the power that I was getting from the old unit? I read in another thread that the Stock Bazooka sub already has it's own amp though but I'm not sure. I'm willing to spend a little more to get my bass back but if not then I'll have to return this Bday gift I got got myself because My sound is more important to me honestly.Sorry for the long thread but thanks for any help.

IIRC, you need some kind of adapter to connect the factory sub to an aftermarket stereo. You should check if the sub is even firing and then go from there.

Thanks for the response man. Upon further listening, I realized that in fact the sub is not firing at all. At the place where I got it installed, they said that the sub was connected but was low. Well, like I said, its not even hitting at all. There is a little green light that's on the sub. It is on but no sound.

Do you know what kind of adapter?

On the back of most stereos theres a spot for the sub to plug into, like theres the regular wiring for the rest of the speakers ans then theres a extra amp plug in, usually red and white, if theres not a separate one did you check the wiring harness?
