Since our cars require a specific coolant, I would be reluctant to take it just anywhere. You could contact Jiffy Lube before hand to inquire if they carry the required coolant, or what they use, but I kinda doubt they carry the right stuff.
I work at a dealership. We do "fluid science" tests on cars above 70k. I've never seen coolant test bad. What your looking for though is called "pink" (named after its color) If you do have jiffy lube change your fluid make sure they actually do it. Have seen a few customers come in and tell me they just had brake fluid done by a place like jiffy lube. Then I test it and it comes back bad still. Just a word of caution.
I wouldn't recommend Jiffy Lube anymore, not when it's something you can easily do yourself. I spent $175 for an oil change and a coolant flush on my girlfriend's car when i didn't know any better. Now that I know better, I find out that for me to do it myself, it would only cost half an hour of my time and $50.
What if I bought the coolant and took it to Jiffy Lube for them to do it? Would that make any sense? I'm just trying to avoid getting gouged by the dealer.
Jiffy Lube will want to use their own supplies, same as dealership. They don't want to be held liable if you get the wrong coolant/fluids. You're in chico, I'm sure you can flirt with some guy in the Bay area on here to do it for you for free or a $20 dinner. ;) If you're good though, he'll buy the dinner too. LOL
But seriously, I'm sure you can get somebody to help you save some $$$$
Yeah, Jiffy Lube really is a joke though. I went to one with my girlfriend's car and when they did the transmission flush, it wasn't any quicker than when they did a regular oil change. They had some chick who they knew that was just getting her car serviced get into our car and try to start it up. The dumb b!tch kept saying the car wouldn't start but that was because her retarded ___ didn't know how to start a manual.
