Default Shorty 3" antenna

Installed a shorty 3" antenna on my 2008 TC and now the radio reception is bad. I know that can happen but it didn't on my Gti for the past 5 years which makes me wonder if it's the stock Pioneer unit.

Looking to get better head unit soon anyway but just still curious if anyone else had problems.

Thanks,

Yep, absolutely. I get absolutely no stations, even ones in my own city. But I don't care, form over function on this one, guy. Yeah... it looks awesome. Plus I got my iPod so who cares...

Thanks but is that with an aftermarket unit and is your antenna 3"? I'm thinking it's the stock units poor reception and not the short antenna.

Yes, my audio is completely stock. I do believe it is the unit, yes. I know a lot of people with the shorty antenna that have swapped units and what-not and they have no reception problems. Sorry, forgot to mention that in my first post.

I think it depends on the type of antenna...If you get a real S2000 antenna youll be fine. I dont have any problems with mine

Depends on the type of antenna, not the head unit. If the antenna is metal, you won't get crap for stations. If it was the head unit, you would have this problem regardless of antenna type. The best antenna you can get as a "shorty" is an S2000 one.
