i believe you can get close if you have header, catback, intake, pulley, and a UNICHIP.

I had a full exhaust, intake, and unichip running on the premium "tune" and I still wasn't near 200

What were you at? U have the Dyno? if so you should post it on the Unichip forum. A lot of dudes looking for a Dyno from a member.

EDIT: I just realized... you have a tC1? This thread is with regards to a tC2... which has stock 20 more HP.

Yeah, what does a stock 2nd gen tC dyno? like 160 whp? You won't see a 40 whp gain with bolt-ons and standalone engine management.

Yea you're probably right. I was overestimating. I was thinking "close" as in 190whp. but that is pushing it.

Then again... Dyno #s are already whack because one tC2 with mods can dyno at 155whp and one stock one a different Dyno got 172whp.

I will use Haltech sprint 500. by I have a mazda p5 turbo with one of those and I will reuse in the tC2 and I think the Haltech is much better than the Unichip

I've seen videos of Scion with 171whp dyno tC2 in stock. I think that with those bolts on it I get about 195whp.

Granted all my tuning experience is from the first gen tC, but 160 bhp equals about 139 to 140 whp. So a loss of about 20 horsepower. So a 2nd gen tC with 180 bhp isn't going to dyno 172 unless Toyota is being conservative with their power output, which could happen as the Scion xD had a slightly underrated engine as it's dyno results indicated it probably had 138 bhp rather than 128 that toyota rated it with.

Dynos are mad sketchy. Some read really low and some read really high. To find out for sure your cars performance ... IMO best way is to race (legally) cars with around 200whp with equal power/weight. So if u take it to track and smash a Civic Si/RSX-S/FR-S/4cyl Genesis... U are probably around 200whp. Then again driver skill comes into play...

Time and time again i see talk about dyno this that dyno that. Take your car to the tuner you want when your car is stock, baseline numbers. Put your parts on and get it tuned. You will then know what the exact gains are for your set up. Unless the same kind of car has gone to the tuner you're going to which basically means you can compare with their output... You can't compare to someone elses really. I don't know why people can't understand this.

I've compared my output to four different tc1s from SoCal that have been tuned at my tuner and it made me realize what actually works and what doesn't.

My evo dyno'd at barely 240 hp stock. Some kids were quick to say "your car is broken they're 300 stock" -.-

With that all said... I could see the tc2 doing high 170ish. Don't forget about tq, it gets fun when that torque is on lock. Good luck.

Lets get the exact quote...

"On the Dynojet chassis dyno, the 2AR-FE didn’t disappoint. On the first three passes, the engine delivered roughly 160 horsepower to the wheels (about 188 flywheel horsepower). On the next pass, 180.11 horsepower was delivered to the wheels. We had to double check our results, as 180.11 horsepower to the roller is equivalent to over 210 horsepower at the flywheel. We made three more pulls all delivering 180 horsepower to the wheels. It seemed that once the ECU learned that we wanted to make peak power (based on our throttle input), the engine simply generated 20 more horsepower from that point forward. It was as if the electronic throttle used some type of fuzzy-logic strategy. If we get a tC in our D’Garage project car stable, you can be sure that we’ll explore this phenomenon further."

http://dsportmag.com/browse/tech/tes...-2011-scion-tc

I'm not sure if the tC makes that kind of power... however, it is possible.

Stock 2012 Civic Si is about 2,850 Lbs. it has 201HP and runs about 6.9s 0-60 and 1/4mile 15.1s @93.1 MPH.
Stock tC2 Manual is about 3069 LBS. 180hp. Runs 6.9s 0-60 and 1/4 mile 15.4s @90.6MPH.

Yes the tC is slower than the Si..but for a car with 21 less HP and weighs over 200 lbs more than the SI, it isn't that much slower. in fact, it should be significantly slower..but a 0-60 that is almost the same? and a 1/4mile that close?
It is either the weight is not accurate or the horsepower is not accurate. Maybe the Si has less HP than advertised... or maybe the tC has more.

Thanks VuDism, I've been feeding the exact same number to the Civic heads out there but it doesn't get through to the Civic people i talk to. The HP numbers are probably right but the Civic might just have more HP loss to power its AC and accessories which causes less power to the wheels.

AC belt shouldn't effect the power unless AC is on. I think the tC motor might be a little stronger than advertised.

Not to make this into a tC vs Si thread... But Civic dudes just don't know... I spent about $2500 in mods on my car since I purchased it... It puts my tC in the $$$ range of a new base Civic Si (before tax, delivery, etc). My car will destroy a stock Si anywhere for equal to or less than the cost of the Si

Your right. Some people don't know that the ac affects HP some so thought ill bring it up as a little good to know point. Its possible especially since this engine is basically used throughout the Toyota 4 cyl line up with tweaking here and there depending on the vehicle.

It's not uncommon for cars to be underrated from the factory Dodge does that the Cobalt SS S/C was as well. I think the only way to really know is to dyno a slightly broken in tC on a few different dyno's then compare, every tC can vary from one another. Just my 2 cents.
