Default seriously, who wants a turbo kit?

my friend and i both have XBs and we are working on a turbo kit to sell, we have both built and worked on many turbo and supercharged cars so we aren't going into this blind, we are looking at making a stage 1 and stage 2 kit, the stage 1 kit will most likely be non intercooled and running 5psi while the stage 2 kit will be intercooled with probably 7psi, everything will be fabbed from scratch so it will be an original kit, we are still trying to decide on turbo sizes and we need toi finalize fueling, but the goal is to have 2 complete bolt on turbo kits, complete with fueling and everything, so it will be a truly bolt on kit, we are trying to keep the prices less then anything else you would find, would there be any serious interest in this?

didnt meant to offend or anything...
people would like to see finished products rather than plans...
after u done, let the turbo kit speaks for itself

Make a good product with a reasonalbe price.......and people will buy it. There is interest all over the place for FI systems for this car.........and Scions in general are still relatively few. It won't be long before there are Scion owners out the anus.

I want to see a turbo with a mouse inside of a running ball. That is as close as anyone has come to making a turbo for the XB's when you are finished the the turbo let us know... Good luck

I'd like to see a full system(i.e. intercooler, wastegate, blowoff, etc.) I really don't care for smog legal since we have to smog our cars every 4-6 years and my xB is pretty much for car shows

this will be a full system with BOV, intercooler and fueling, we are still looking into internal or external, external is nicer but cost more, also with only running 5-7psi an internal would work fine, we will probably give you the option of internal or external, external costing a bit more obviously, i'd love to see a gain of 50whp with the stage 2 kit at 7psi, which i believe is realistic

I'm definatly interested ( if I don't put together one myself).
I think the best turbo for this engine is going to be the Garrett GT25R, it can support up to 240hp and will spool fast enough not to have much, if any, lag.
If I were to buy this kit I would expect to see fuel delivery upgrades to support the power expected (not just an FMU to raise pressure). Also you'll have to do something about the ignition timing, whether it's a reprogram for the stock PCM or an MSD DIS-2. A good size and quality intercooler to cool the air charge as much as possible for these high-compression engines is a must. I wouldn't even offer stage 1 without one, just a little smaller to save cost.

a gt25r would be nice but it's a $1200 turbo, that would make the kit cost a lot more, i'm leaning towards a small T3 for a few reasons, they are cheap, they work great and they are very easy to fine incase one has to be replaced, fueling will be all dialed in, it will not just be an FMU, and with a stage 1 kit at 5psi non intercooled, would be fine, the superchnager kits are non intercooler

I wouldn't go with a T3 for the 1.5, that's a little to big and will have too much lag. You could use a regular T25 which would be cheaper than the T3. You can get a GT25R for around $700, I'm getting a GT30R for my car and it's $1250.

i ran a t3 50 trim on my 2.0 jetta and it was nice it was at full boost at 2400rpm but was little weak up top so i think on a 1.5 16v it would be full boost around 3k which would be perfect

Well, I just think it would be over kill for these little engines if your only trying to get 50 more hp. A stock Eclipse T25 was good for over 200hp from the factory. The difference between 1.5L and 2.0L is pretty big in terms of how the engine is going to act with certain mods, and in just power delivery in general. It's your project though, use what you want. I'm just giving you my opinion.

thanks and i appreciate the opinion and i'm not agruing with you, a final decision on the turbo hasn't been made yet we might narrow it down to 2 turbos and try them both

people are interested, but it seems that they don't want something thrown together. make sure it is quality first.

keep in mind you are not a known company so don't expect to be able to sell the kits for the same price as blitz or other companies.

I'm fully on board with the turbo idea. I have been thinking about trying to do it myself but I ran into the following problems; 1. Have to get a manifold made 2. don't know crap about MAF sensor cars. I was thinking about using the T3 because of the faster spool time but after some research it seems that might be a little big. Chysler used that turbo on the old 2.2 lebaron motors. I just don't want to spend the money on the turbo and it run like crap. Your on the right track peppy, keep us updated.
