Default unflattering review of the scion xA..

let the flames begin...

yeah this one was downright brutal... he was pretty brutal with all the scion cars... but this one was pretty rough...

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/con...8095912965788/

anyhow hope its not a repost...

"Sciontologists are scary people. Who else would re-package a Toyota Echo and sell it to American twenty-somethings? We’re talking about a Japanese sub-compact with all the edgy excitement of a five-year-old Readers’ Digest (large print edition). You couldn’t imagine a more cynical marketing ploy. Still, props to Toyota for having the stones to foist the “new money for old rope” routine on the world’s most style critical audience."

I kinda agree with him. . . the auto is really a dud for my kinda market. I know some people enjoy it, and I can't knock that, but for me I'd be dead before I'd own an auto on this car. If it were a different car with a better engine, I can deal with autos, but man, I don't know what they were smokin when they dropped that snail in. But hey, even tho I have a 5spd, I'm always trying to shift into a sixth gear which doesn't exist, and the auto has a much better freeway cruising RPM.

That same website also thinks that manual transmissions are for idiots.

And I mean, look at the picture of the guy who reviewed the car. He looks like a douchenozzle.

actually i like the site.. his comments on some things crack me up

but I don't really like the overuse of the sciontologist/sciontist puns.. it didn't work for me and made the article sound juvenile... worse was the lack of consistency of the terms (using sciontologist then sciontist) , and who they were referencing.

oh yeah and the anti-manual tranny thing was an editorial written by another guy... obviously each writer has differing opinions in their editorials... I think it would be unfair to characterize the whole site with that one opinion. Especially since you should note he says in the article you should get the stick if you want any sort of power.

Oh no! Some guy I've never heard of doesn't like my car! I guess I'd better go sell it now. That's a shame though, because I really like my xA.

Please. This is why I don't pay any attention to movie critics either. They might hate a movie that I loved, or praise one I hated. Ya know what I think is hilarious? Most automotive critics just love Mercedes and VW. They will gush on and on about what remarkable machines they are. Yet when you read the results of owner polls and JD Powers reports, the reliability of Mecedes and VW has been in the dumper lately. I don't know about you, but reliability is my #1 concern with a car. I don't care how luxurious or prestigeous it is, if it doesn't run! He can say what he wants....my xA is awesome. And I've owned LOTS of other vehicles to compare it to. That guy is an idiot.

What I find interesting is that he quotes a price of $13,000. All but one of the pics are of the RS 1.0 which sold (sells?) for $15,195 in a manual transmission (I should know I own one). What did he expect fotr the price?

Other than that, his commnets are his opinion and he is welcome to them. I love my xA.

He was definitely right about scions sport tuned suspension. Its really uncomfortable and too rough of a feel.

If you read the rest of that site, you can see that those guys are negative about just about everything.

Since it is a relatively new site, their allegiances haven't presented themselves to forcefully yet, but we'll see who they're in bed with soon enough. For example, Car & Driver is SO Honda-centric, it's almost like they do training videos for them. C&D hates saying ANYTHING nice about Toyota, and will begrudgingly compliment Toyota on things. Even when Toyota is the clear winner on certain things, C&D will come up with other criteria to make sure Honda looks better. So I'm sure that this site will start doing that eventually.

like he said, the car is worth as much as a good HT system, what the hell do you expect? can he take his stupid 13K audio system and run it on the freeway and get his little ### around? i don't think so, small engine saves me gas, i already know that the car is weak before i buy it, i don't need him to tell me that, i can read on my own. That dude is an idiot, tell him to go find a better car for 13K that is made from a brand with the rep like Toyota, he ain't gonna find one. If i want a car for joy ride or show off, i would dump another extra 4K and get the tC or some other car with a stronger engine, probablem is i can't afford another 4K, that guy is comparing apple to oranges, ____ me off cuzz the dude is not being fair in his argument.

I find it oh so entertaining that the only guy who would actually write an article such as that, is also a man who cannot spell, leaves out words that should be there to complete a sentence, and has a ridiculous lack of grammar.

Just goes to show you...

xa owners are smarter than Joe Shmoe the xa hater...maybe we really do know what we r doing...sheesh

Default Actually, guys, his review is flattering to the xA

If you read his review carefully, you'll see that he does say many flattering things about the Scion xA. I have changed my desire for a tC to that of a Scion xA. I look forward to test driving one soon. He does reiterate the value quotient with the xA. I mean, for $13,000 this car absolutely rocks the house, ya know?
