Clicking Noise from Seatbelt? Overriding the headlights?
Okay - two things I've noticed and I didn't find them in the search - unless I'm putting in the wrong key words.
I started hearing a clicking noise in the driver seatbelt - at least that's where it seems to be coming from - where the seatbelt comes out of. I hear the clicking noise when I turn corners only - and the seatbelt releases and then grabs tight again? I don't know what it is but it's getting on my nerves.
Next thing - if I drive faster than 35 mph, it's difficult to see where I'm going at night. The headlights don't put off too much light in front of me - good for 6 feet (maybe) then fades fast. I have to use my brights (when I can) to see in front of me at night, especially if I'm doing more than 35 mph. Is this just the way they are? Someone told me that I was overriding the headlights and that they needed to be adjusted. But why would brand new headlights need to be adjusted?
Any advice/information on these two problems would be greatly appreciated. If there are already threads on this topic, I'd appreciate the links to them as I can't find them through the search.
do you have the factory fog light kit installed? because those will only project about 4 feet. and when you put on your "brights" i assume the high beam, you will turn off teh fog lights. at night, double check to see if all your headlights are working. if so, it could be as simple as a weak bulb thats going to go, or you might need to adjust your headlight aiming. odd tho...
about the seat beat, if it constantly loosens and retracts, that has something to do with the pretensioner, doesn't it? in case of a pending accident, the seat belts tighen up to remove any slack that will let you go flying around in your seat. definitely bring that to dealer and check it out.
Do you mean how when you drive there is this clicking noise coming from the partk where you lock the seat belt into? I have this too latley..and its annoying me and hopeing my seatbelt dont give out. It hast made the sound in a couple of days so i am thinking it worked itself out...who knows!
Clicking noise was actually the seat. not the seat belt They said they lubricated the seat rails - there wasn't enough on them. No annoying sound today
As far as the headlights go, they are fine - they just suck.
As far as my moonroof that was stopping erratically - they said they had to "reinitialize" it. It works great now.
As far as the rough engage when shifting it in gear, they said it had to do with the engine being cold (since it only happened in the mornings) and I need to let it warm up before shifting gears.
I went ahead and got the oil changed even though I've only put 1800 on it. I figured it might get any machining pieces out of it - clean it out.
Hope this helps anyone else that was having similar problems. Thanks.
Nice. Glad your probs are solved.
Whats going on with the headlights. They are fine but just suck? No explanation for the suckage? Anyone else have this problem?
Also...appreciate the follow-up post...always useful.
It's just that mine don't seem to project too far ahead - at the very MOST, only about 6 feet. If I drive over 35 miles an hour, I have difficulty seeing in front of me without using my brights. I previously had a BMW 325i and didn't have this problem. I had it checked out and they just said that's how they were.
I still have it. I don't know what to do with it. I actually like the Scion much better than the BMW. The BMW needs $1800 worth of work. I haven't had time to work on it yet. Some stuff I'll have to get done by the dealer - like the bent steering rack. I hit a curb going down a hill when the roads were slick and messed it up.
As for the headlights, try getting a set of Silverstar low beams. I put them in mine and make a good difference. Of course, if it's an aiming problem, it won't help, but I like the light much better than stock. Whiter light has a better visibility (IMO).
