Default anyone try this yet?

has anyone taken the oem tc bazooka enclosure and replaced it with a different sub? i need something that sounds better then the bazooka, but for the price i paid for it, i could't complain($125-from my friend who went all out with his audio). Shops were telling me to make an enclosure like that would cost me at least $150. so i figured, buy it and then replace the sub. if no one's done it, have any recommendations on what to get-not looking to spend that much, i need to buy the ddx or eclipse also and then do leather, so unless the price is decent, i'll just wait.

Where did you go that said they could make a duplicate of the stock sub box for 150? This is what I want to do. Ive been to websites that sell the bazooka for as low as 270$. But I keep hearing terrible things on this forum about the bazooka. I want a sub but I'm not willing to give up a bunch of trunk space. That stock enclosure is perfect. I don't need to shake the block, i just want a fuller sound. I was thinking one alpine type s, nothing more than 400 or so whatts. no9t trying to make my ears bleed. If the oem sub is good enough I may go for it but if its as crappy as everyone says then I can certainly get better for cheaper.

i replaced a SAS tube sub with an Image Dynamics sub.
It sounded 100% better.
I'm sure it can be done, however i wonder how "booomy" it would sound since that box is molded plastic? maybe wrapping it in some dynomat or something might help??
I think it's a good idea.

2 of the places around long island told me they could make a similar type enclosure. one place that i just happened to drive by and stopped into told me about $150-$175. the other place is a high end stereo place-best tire and audio told me $250. the bazooka is 10inches, 100 watts with dual voice coil(whatever that means).

Do you know the volume/tuning frequency of the enclosure? I assume it's ported?

haha aw, Chris is doing his research. What a good salesman.

It is ported, by the way. But I don't think anyone knows the specs. Is there a way we can test it?

Oh, yellot00tr, sorry to semi-hijack your thread... to explain, me and Chris are attempting to figure this stuff out right now, since I want to buy a sub from them but would like to keep my VSE box... we'll let you know if it works out ok!

Man, if I have to hear one more negative thing about the Bazooka.
It's a great sub, for the money, and saves the space. Frankly, just today, I took a dude who has a POWERFUL sub set up in his box, for a blindfold test drive.

He could not tell that I had only the Bazooka. When I showed him, he flipped out.

It's not always about the size, it's how you use it. I have upgraded the speakers in my car, and know a thing or two about setting sound...and yes, if you want, the sub can rattle the ground, but that is not how I have it set.

I get some great, full, sound from the sub. And, still have trunk space (which is even more so, since I pulled the spare and the two boxes out of there...)

The main problem I have with the bazooka VSE is that it doesn't appear to use a crossover (it seems like it doesn't only play the low end frequencies). I've had a few sound expert people agree with me, it seems like you can hear more than just the typical sub range in it.

That and I want something louder and something that hits tighter.
