Gotta QuEstiOn
Does anyone know if i really need the plate behind my billet grill, and if i dont how do i remove it...im looking to put a ICELED scanner in there but theres no room wit the steel backing behing the grill
We havedifferent problems, involving the same plate. I purchased a JDM grill, and want to block it back off, like the original. Guess Toyota didn't want air flowing through there to the engine compartment for some reason. Bugs on the engine/wires? Who knows?

I think it was mostly to prevent massive amounts of water getting into the electrics possibly along with all the other crap that might get in there. I still don't understand why they didn't just make the bumper cover just go all the way up to the hood
It's to keep water and bugs out of the engine compartment and mimics the solidness of the OEM grill.
(Maybe too much airflow might not let them heat up enough? doubtful)
My grillcrafts came with a solid backing plate as well. I'm going to make a copy of it out of plexi...
