Default Turbo or Supercharged XB

Hey I have had my XB for about 2 weeks and am wondering what my options are as far as Supercharging or putting Turbo on my XB. Any Suggestions? Whats available? Is one better than the other? and where can I get it. I still want my XB to be reliable, because I drive it a lot. Thanks.

Congrats on you purchase. There are a couple of kits out right now but I understand that Scion will soon release a supercharger for the car which, if installed by a dealer will retain your factory warranty. You may want to try running a search on this site for info that others have posted/shared with their own turbocharging/supercharging experiences. I think there's also a kit up for sale in the classifieds section of this site. Good luck with your project!

turbocharging-- EL prototypes will soon have a kit available
TSI extreme kit
Greddy (i think)
Custom

Supercharging-- Blitz, and i think another company make eaton roots type superchargers.

force induction on the echo motor is like play russian rolette as E.L. puts it.

If you want to go turbo, get some new rods and pistons. Not too mention upgrading your fuel delivery. And also doing something about the ECU.

Please check the Power Hungry section as indicated above.

Dont do a turbo unless you are ready for some big headaches...Im still under construction and about 90% done w/ my install but I wont dare push that thing over 6 psi for daily driving or any driving for that matter and thats still not saying that I wont snap a rod like a twig

factory turbo will never happen...for toyota to feel safe about running a turbo on these things they wouldnt wanna push it past 3 lbs of boost for reliability purposes...the kit would be mad expensive and not worth it in toyotas eyes

I just don't think it's worth it to have in a car like this. I would maybe get a supercharger for the car if it were worth about a G. I mean cmon, 4,000 for that powerenterprise supercharger. Kidding me. Thats 1/3 of a TC : D

Toyota does'nt make turbos for their cars. They do however make superchargers.

i dont kno if u mean they dont actually produce their own turbos or if u are refering to they dont turbo their cars cuz the mr2 and supra. and if u are refering to the first alot of manuafactuers dont make turbos themselves companies like garrett and such make them for the manufactuers.

If you want to go turbo, get some new rods and pistons. Not too mention upgrading your fuel delivery. And also doing something about the ECU.
all is true except you really wont need rods and pistons unless u are goin to be running moderate boost on these motors

but n e way good luck with ur f/i xB

I think its almost necessary to run safely if you plan on boosting more than 7 psi to change the pistons and rods.
