Does anyone have pics of a tC with steel rims on?
Living in Iowa, I am looking for some winter rims so I don't beat up my RS 1.0 Enkei's.
I know the steel rims are going to be ugly, I just want to know how ugly.
If the steel rims are TOO ugly, I may look for some cheap alloy rims in a genaric tire size.
Let me know any experiences with steel vs. alloy rims for winter driving.
Thanks

I'm seriously considering getting inexpensive 15" alloy rims for my tC instead of steel ones not only because they'll look a lot better, but because they'll hold up a lot better. A few Vermont winters will make steel rims rusty. American Racing Estrellas are pretty nice-looking, reasonably-priced alloy wheels, but I haven't been able to find them in the 5-100 bolt pattern for the tC (but I also haven't looked very hard yet).

We offer a wide selection of wheels for the tC. We have 15" wheels (steels at $32.00 * alloys starting at $99.00 *) 16" (steels at $34.00 * alloys starting at $78.00 *) and in 17's there are no steel wheels available, the alloys start at $124.00 *
* = Each plus shipping.
You can find them under the "Winter" section on our site at http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=DJ1&...nter/index.jsp or for personal service, please feel free to give me a call at the numbers listed below!

Okay, the deed is done. Last Thursday I ordered rims and tires for my tC. 15" American Racing Estrella alloy rims at $90 each and 195/65R15 Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi tires at $86 each. The financial hit hurts, but these wheels will last the life of the car, and the tires ought to be good for at least three seasons.
Ought to be interesting to see how much the smaller wheels/higher profile tires and winter tread pattern/rubber compound affect the tC's handling.

Yeah I live in Vermont and have seen a few tC's around my area with rims and tires like that, but I honestly don't notice it that much because a lot of people are doing it now since it's the season. But, I have still got to get winter tires and rims for my car
But I don't have the money at the moment and we've had 2 storms so far, but everythings held up good so far...Haven't gone off the road yet
Matt, where in VT are you? If you're in or near Burlington, Vermont Tire on Williston Road near the airport has really good prices. I ended up springing for alloy wheels because I just couldn't stomach putting steelies on; VT Tire sold them to me way cheaper than I could even find them anywhere online. See the winter tire sticky at the top of this forum for some pics.

15's will fit. Where in VT are you guys? I got my tC from Heritage (my parents live up there in So. Burlington). They suck for not giving free oil changes, so I'll do it down here in jersey.
Anyway: Here's a pick of Kurker's RS1 with steelies - 16s with Blizzak WS50's:

Shep's tC with 15" alloys and Blizzaks (in the snow!)

I bought my tC at Heritage too, and they gave me the one free oil change I asked for. I'm not going to bother with the other two because taking my car there for an oil change is a huge waste of my time when I can do it myself in way less than half the time. Besides, as of two days ago I'm running synthetic oil in my tC.
I've got no pics of my tC covered with snow yet, but there are pics of the wheels/tires in the snow tire sticky at the top of this forum.
