Default Hard shifts from 1st to 2nd when car is still cold

Is this normal?

The past few weeks the weather has been colder in the morning, obviously.

When I first start up the car and shift from first to second, there's some friction in there - more than normal, and it was worrying me.

Does anyone else experience similar problems?

Is this anything to be concerned about?

Thanks.

Totally normal. It happens to me alot when the car has not been run for about 8 hours or more. It doesn't get too cold down here but cool enough.

I've read of others on the site who have had similar issues.

I'm wondering if the tranny fluid thickens up a bit when it's cold? I may change to Mobil one when I get it flushed soon. That may help.

Mine does that too...only when it's cold...then once you have driven a bit it stops...i guess it's normal since there's a lot who have this issue. I was going to take it in for that...but since it only does it in the morning...by the time i drove it down there it would be fine...so O WELL!

i usually warm up the car a little, then press in the clutch and run it through all the gears a few times to shift around the fluid...sometimes it helps

I do the same as nevergivein. It is a little sticky in the morning but I am sure this is more of a fluid thing than anyhting mechanical.
