Default DC Sports vs Strup - Headers/Exhaust. AEM vs Injen - Intake

DC Sports. I have only heard the good things and never heard any bad things about them before. So I am guessing a good reputation from this company. I like the sound of the DC Exhaust and the headers would add lil help, but would make the engine look nicer.

Strup i have never heard of. Yet I hear good things just recently here too. I went to their site and their headers look nice. Not sure about the exhaust. I know the DC would fit nicely on mine, since i have air suspension. I dunno any local shops around here who carry Strup, but I do with DC and could get the DC stuff for a decent price.

Injen intake, I was leaning towards getting it, but I just recently read something about an oily filter or something and screwing up the mass flow air sensor? Also wanted to lean towards Injen cuz I normally like to stick with one brand, and Injen has a few accessories I could get along with the intake. I.e. valve cover, oil cap and such.

AEM has some things as well, but I hear its a good intake as well. Any problems with those and the mass air flow sensor? Figured be a good product since DC sports are affliated with the same company.

Opinions and reviews would be nice. Thanks!

I have the Injen short ram and it has been flawless! I would go with the DC due to the ceraminc coating.

How much money do you want to spend? If you want HP you would be better off going with all Monster Motor Works parts. Not to many folks have them yet but I've seen the dyno vs DC and Megan headers and there is no compairisen. You will get better torque,HP.and responsivness from your car. PM me if you need any info.

Heres is the deal with the MAP sensor:

Any excess oil on the filter that they use to lube it can cause your MAF to start acting bad when it gets on it because it gets sucked in (duh). 00-05 Celica owners know about this problem. I had an AEM CAI on my Celica and never experienced it but I fixed several peoples who did come across it. Its not a huge deal to fix, you just pull the MAF and clean it with non chloronated brake parts cleaner. Dont spray it very hard because its a sensitve piece. Some people take and put it on a qtip and clean it that way. That fixes the problem 9 times out of 10. Most people will clean their MAF every 15K or so to help with performance.

The biggest thing is to be careful when cleaning and re oiling your filter. Dont spray too much all over it and wait a little bit before you reinstall it to let the oil soak into the element.

DC Sports- Has gone to crap over the years. They were bought out by AEM about 1-2 years ago so maybe quality has improved but their headers made no power on alot of new cars. (1-2hp is not much of an improvement in my book if youre spending 300-400 bucks) If you do decide to go with DC, make sure you check the mounting flange to make sure its straight, alot of them are a little warped. A belt sander can straighten that up easily.

Injen vs AEM- from my experience in reading through dynos for each companies applications alot of the time AEM makes more low end power and torque while Injens intakes seem to make more peak HP in the higher RPM bands. I cant really sway one way to the other on that subject but I always liked AEMs filters more than Injens.

Does that help a bit?

INJEN INJEN INJEN!!! gives more power and if you get the CAI you wont have the oil problem accumulating on the MAF sensor. I felt tremendous power gains for it being a little 1.5 when i put the intake, i also have a header and an exhaust. For the header go with the ceramic coated DC sports.

As far as strup v. DC. From the xb's I have seen them with I would go witht he strup. I actually have the strup and the only complaint I have is the tip. The DC axleback has a nice rolled lip the strup looks like they took a four inch pipe and cut it. I do know that most of the people on Scionlife are either running with the strup or greddy evo.

As far as headers, the only thing dc seems to have over anyone else is the ceramic. I read somewhere on SL that some people were having an issue with the shifter cable coming into contact with the headers. Ceramics stay much cooler then stainless. So if there is an issue with that I have a feeling you won't be dealing with that. As far as horsepower, I think you should do a little searching here and see what numbers people are pulling on DYNO's. I don't really trust manufactures numbers.
