since i was having the coolant problem over the weekend, i really began looking around the engine bay and the supercharger itself, and i just keep noticing things that are making me mad. the sc was installed on fri, and i noticed that there's rust on some stuff already. the car's 2 weeks old, the sc is 4 days old, so how can things be getting rustiy already? this whole thing is just aggravating the hell out of me. i'm thinking that they took brand new parts out of my sc and gave me old or used parts. i'll take pics of what i'm talking about tomorrow. maybe i made the wrong decision getting the sc. i really don't know anymore.
hmm thats so odd, the coolant was more like an dealer install fault not directly with trd sc, but rust ? thats weird.
you made the right decision getting the sc from dealer because now that you are having problems with it, you will be taken care for the next 3 years

Next 5 years ;)
And what is rusting? Most SC parts are aluminum or coated / polished, so they can't rust. I had the SC for 2.5 months - still looks brand new, but I do keep the engine bay sparkling clean anyway.

it would've been great to have only spent $3k. i spent about $4.5k total after tax and install. i'm going back there next tuesday-that was the earliest they could bring me in. annoying, but i can't deal with all this bs. after that much money, i should have a nice clean engine bay without coolant sprayed and crusted everywhere or ____bag rusted, crappy assed parts. not thrilled about this supercharger so far. i wouldn't ever recommend someone getting the sc unless u absolutely need the 6yr/50k mile warranty. now that i've been thinking about it, i should've waited for a company like greddy or any other well known company to put out a turbo. realistically, no decent made turbo is gonna crap out ur powertrain before 6yr/50k, and unless u're planning on keeping this car over 100k miles, who cares??????
4,5k$!!!!!
whoa!
if u dont mind what is the breakdown of that ??? thats alot of money! I think its not TRD's fault for your problems. the TRD is a great product but when a bad dealer handles everything then yeah you go a lemon growing.

Yeah 4.5 K is way high. Thats over $1000 for install.
But back to the issues. I wouldnt turn everyone away from any product because of one issue. To say its junk just because your dealer sucks as wrong.
Obviusly they arent that great if they charged you that much, then they mess up the install, now you have "rust" on something that can never rust. I would say this is a Toyota deal, Not a Supercharger deal.
I love mine and have yet to hear anyone on here complain about problems.
I feel bad you are the one, so I reccomend taking it to a different dealer and complain till its all made straight. Good luck with it however you proceed.

after tax it was $3650 for the supercharger and then $800 for the install. $4450 total for an extra 40-50hp-$100 for 1hp. that's whatever, and i'd be almost ok with it if everything worked out perfectly, but it didn't. not only did they not install or reinstall the coolant properly-it was empty by the time i got home and coolant sprayed all over the place, but then there's also rust on parts. on another note, why would i call it oxidation? i am fully aware of what oxidation is-i'm not an uneducated simpleton, but calling it rust isn't incorrect. if something has rust on it, what do u call it? a rusty screwdriver or rusty nail is called a rusty screwdriver and rusty nail. who the hell other than a scientist is going to say that it's an oxidized screwdriver or an oxidized nail? a scientist may call rust oxidation, but oxidation is actually the process in which moisture is mixed with oxygen, rust is the result of that oxidation. also, what the hell does that have to do with aftermarket stuff? i didn't realize u had to be willing and capable of using scientific terms in order to use aftermarket parts or add anything to your car-that's just absurd, not to mention stupid, naive and unrealistic. it's funny when people think so highly of themselves, believing that they're better then everyone else, and are actually able to convince themselves that it's true, even if it's no where near being true.
Take pics of the rust.
http://blacktc.com/sc/sc07.jpg - that's my engine bay yesterday. The car is 17 months old, SC was installed end of Ocotber. Not a rust spot anywhere.

this is completely dealer level fault.
go talk to the customer relations manager, service manager and the parts manager.
you need that mailed from the dealer for your warranty to be honored by TRD
The card is suppose to be mailed by you. I was given the card with my keys and told to mail it immediatly.
I hope it all works. out. Whats the dealer said since you have returned to them?
You did go back, didnt you?

i have an appointment with them tomoro morning. they didn't fill out the top part of the warranty card, so i have to get them to do that tomoro as well.
"Attn Technicians: The installation of sc is not complete until this card is returned to trd"
there wasn't a work order number on the invoice they gave me, so i figured that they were supposed to fill it out and send back to trd.
