Hey all, just took my car into a firestone to have the rear passenger tire looked at. I seemed to have developed a flat spot or something in the tire. They've concluded it is a broken internal belt (which makes since), and the flat spot is where the belt is seperated. Solution? Replacement tire.

24000 miles, still 8/32nds of the treadwear left on the car, the tire will be prorated to be replaced. Problem is, everyone is closed today (January 2nd) including their warehouse distributers and bridgestone corporate. They project the earliest they could get a replacement is next week. Problem is, I leave for a 1000 mile trip on friday morning, date unchangeable. So, I will have to wait until tomorrow to talk with bridgestone to see about getting a tire shipped immediately to get here thursday so I can have it mounted and balanced same day. I'll see how it goes. I'll keep you updated, may be a good testiment to how well Bridgestone honors their new tire warranties.

 

first and foremost if you haven't read through the forums and realized the R92s are horrible tires in the first place. second, I personally haven't trusted firestone since the whole Explorer tire blowout deal a while back. but i guess good luck with your situation, but I now always recommend to new scion owners that they get better tires ASAP.

 

First and foremost I've been here longer than you have and have been subjected to the rantings plenty of times . Getting new tires asap isn't necessary. The tires are fine for dry traction, but the wet traction is noticeable subpar. I wouldn't recommend these tires for replacements but for now it's not bad enough to justify putting perfectly good tires to waste.

Just a random note, last year my car spun out on a minor S turn at 60 on a frontage road. One of the wheels completely broke off when I hit the curb and was laying flat underneath the body.

Was a really ugly sight watchin the tow truck load my car on the flatbed

 

oh ya, i've got an Re92 left with ~1500mi on it if you still need one.

 

I've got a RE92 with 2300 miles on it, and 2 with about 3000 miles. I wanna get rid of 'em.

 

Well, I called corporate today. I am waiting on a call from the district distributer now. I told them the urgency but still no phone call, it's nearing the close of the business day as well. If the tire does happen to blow out on this trip, they will be liable for everything. I have it documented that there is a broken belt, and also that the the local distributer has NOTHING in this tire size.

The chances of this causing a blowout aren't high, but still more likely than otherwise.

 

There's absolutly nothing Bridgestone could do, as our distribution network was scheduled to be down from the 29th through the 2nd. The last delivery to any corporate store or independent dealer would have been the 28th, and the quickest, today.

If you still can't get ahold of a tire, contact the nearest company store, which according to BFUSA's site, is in Brandon, FL. They should be able to tell you if/where a replacement is at within the Tampa district.

 

I had those bastard tires on my Civic. I had that cr 1.2 years, and had to repair a tire twice and replace a tire once. When i traded it in, it had a slow leak in the rear pass. tire.

Now my tC has Yokahoma's. The 2006's didnt come with those crap ___ Bridestones.

 

Mine's a 2006 and came with Potenza RE92's

It's random - whatever the production line is.

 

OK guys here's the end of it. Bridgestone contacted me last friday, 3 business days after I was told I'd be called back as soon as possible. I was already in Tampa by this time. I was able to setup a tire to be installed the following morning, and The bridgestone-firestone in Tampa, FL (North Florida Ave) was more than helpful. Andrew, I believe the manager's name was. He was helpful and had no problem warranting the tire out. Not that he should, but the Mississippi bridgestone was clueless on what a warranty was. All in all I paid 120 dollars to replace my 33% warn tire. The tire had to be paid for at retail cost, minus 67% prorated discount. The tire was installed and the balance was professional. I'm pretty satisfied with the results.

 

How much are you willing to part with one of them? I've got a bubble in one of my tires.
