True cat-back Exhaust
Can someone explain to my why no one offers a true bolt-on cat-back exhaust for the xB? Seems to me the axle-back does essentially nothing to performance with what looks like the restrictive 2-inch (or less) exhaust in front of it. :?:
Magnaflow offers a true cat back exhaust for the xB.

i guess the companies don't make them cause it isn't really a true bolt on. the axel back is only the real bolt on. the rest of the exhaust is one piece. the magnaflow takes some cutting of your exhaust and i know some people don't have the heart to do it to a new car. personally, i think you're better off picking the muffler you want then getting it made at your local muffler shop. i had mine done with a 6" round SS magnaflow muffler, 2.25" piping, 18" resonator for $380... some axel backs cost almost that much.
With a cat back , you still have that restrictive cat in front of your new free flowing exhaust, talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Check out www.precisionmuffler.com Gabe offer a manifold or header back system, with all Magnaflow components that includes a free flowing cat converter, he has done extensive dyno testing and it is reasonably price under 400, and bolts right up hanger included. I am going to carry it on my website. Bill Turner
is that cat really that restrictive? they've made them alot more free-flowing nowadays haven't they? it was recommended that i don't play with the cat cause i may run into problems later, so i just said cut it 2" sensor and weld that thing up there. i got dc headers and the cat-back exhaust and i HAVE to keep a silencer in my exhaust, i can only imagine header back 2.25"... that things going to sound like a jet...
while cruising down the street
haha

I sort of poked my head under the car and saw what you guys were talking about. I cannot believe Toyota made the cat one piece with the rest of the exhaust. Just about every other manufacturer makes it a seperate piece for ease of replacement when it goes bad. Very weird.
Anyone know off hand what the diameter of the cat is? Looks like I may have to turn to a local shop to custom fabricate a stainless mandrel bent exhaust if I want to go that route. I want to avoid replacing the cat at all costs, so hopefully it is a 2.25" diameter pipe.
How restrictive is the portion prior to the cat which bolts up to the collector?

just do what I did take your car to a respectable muffler shop have them cut and weld mandrel bent 2 inch pipe from the resignator back and get a nice quality muffler. It made a diffrence in power and my car sounds like a beast. nice tuned sound

I only really asked just to see if anyone in the aftermarket is making or has planned to manufacture an entire exhaust system for the xB. I'm all about ease of installation through "bolt-on" parts, but I'm not afraid to have things custom fabricated for my vehicles.
