Default WSJ: Toyotas among most reliable cars

One of my cars is an 11-year-old Corolla that has never had a mechanical problem.

... sales data also suggest that a lot of consumers put a high value on brands that have a track record of delivering cars that last. The brands that had the biggest market-share gains during the 2000-to-2005 period -- BMW, Toyota, Nissan and Honda -- also had relatively strong records for functional reliability, according to an analysis by Walden Consultants. Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge and Chrysler have lost share or stayed flat in that period, and they also have worse-than-average reliability records -- based on data for repair frequency gathered from consumer surveys conducted by IndustrialMR Inc.

You drive a Scion and you work for Nissan. They let you in the company parking lot?

Funny this shows up today...
My 1999 Corolla VE turned exactly 200,000 miles on the way hom from work yesterday. The only things I've had to do to it have been brakes, tires and oxygen sensors. Now that is impressive.

I wonder how I convinced my girlfriend with a brand new '04 Explorer to sell it and get an xB? Maybe it was because in the first year she owned the exlporer, she had it to the service department 5 times. Honestly, no exaggeration, 5 times. Twice it was there for over a week. Wiring harness, rear end bearings and gears, broken passenger power window motor, and soo much more. The best part- it stickered for $37,015!!! I guess she was getting a little bummed that my 'ol trusty Corolla, which cost 1/3 of her truck, was light years more reliable.

This is a subject I could go on forever about. So before I do, I'll stop.

That's not news. Everyone already knows Toyota is the most reliable car on the road. Did we really need WSJ to confirm this? Nice to see it in print though. Thanks for the link.
