Default Sleek, Stylish, and Sexy it is...(1st post rant)

Howdy everyone, just wanted to indroduce myself. Been reading the boards here about the tC for the past few weeks trying to soak up every tidbit of information about the one and only, tC. I've probably read every damn thread on here(I work in front of a computer, with a lot of free time). I've gotta say, I'm very impressed. The tC is almost everything I would want in a car, and considering this would be my first car purschase, is very practical for my needs.

At first, I was dead set on the SRT-4, by Dodge. It is one badass vechicle, coming stock with 230 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of torque. Alotta power, and a great thing to build upon if your into mods. But with my situation(going to school and working full time), and the price at just over 20k, for someone like me, its outta my range. It took me awhile to acknowledge this, and it didn't happen till I found out about the tC, and then a lightbulb popped on above my head.

The tC is perfect for me(I sure as hell hope it is), with a price that is 4-5k lower than the SRT-4. It's not as fast as the SRT-4, but do I really need all that power? And if I do, I can always add the supercharger later to the tC. Its looks like it could be a very reliable car. Ive heard great things from the tC, and great thing from you guys and girls here on the forums. I'm looking foward to test driving it when one comes available.

Also, all ya'll first comers who pick up a tC when is comes out, give us some reviews, opinions, and all that other good stuff. I can't base my decision off of consumer weekly or something. I want the real deal, the scoop from the real drivers of the tC.

i'm with you on the srt-4 switchover. my dad works for daimler chrysler so we got the green slip in the family so the price diff isn't as much, but i love the look of the tC so i am slightly undecided about which way i'll go in december when i finally get out of purdue, but i am leaning toward the tC with the supercharger option, especially since i just read trd is developing a 300 hp package, sorry dodge, hello scion

problems with the SRT4 in my opinion...

#1.. it is still a neon, and when you tell those that are less informed will shun you like the plague... which is fine, but $20k for a car that people are gonna turn their nose up at??

#2.. no cruise control, this is not a factory or dealer option... not sure why, but with that much power on tap, I gotta have cruise... I shouldn't have to go aftermarket to find it...

#3.. fuel costs, figure about 20 cents more per gallon for the premium fuel and then knock off a few mpg... add those bucks to operating costs...

#4.. looks... it has looked pretty much the same since day one... ground effects and a wing do not fix a car...

why I have moved my sights to the tC from Mazda3, SRT-4...

#1.. no Scion dealer in my city... sounds bad at first, but it isn't... any Toyota/Lexus dealer can do full warranty work... the true side benefit is that I won't see too many of these...

#2.. looks... enough said...

#3.. price...

#4.. Toyota reputation for making good products... I don't care if the CD player skips or even if the speakers blow... is the car gonna last?? my exwife totalled my 1985 Toyota Pickup... 235,000 miles... they are doing something right...

and lastly, why the Prius is a waste of money...

#1.. GAS... gas mileage is not enough to sway the $5000 you pay for the technology... over the course of 5 years you will not recoup the cost - even if you get the claimed gas mileage for it - which isn't happening...

(this is my opinion, and being that this is a Scion board - I am thinking that most here will be in complete agreement...)

The SRT-4 has had some serious saftey issues in the past if I recall... I remember seeing some photos of a totalled RSX and a totalled SRT-4 that were involved in very similar wrecks at similar speeds and in similar conditions... the RSX looked bad but the cabin held up rather well.

But the SRT4? It looked doubtful that the driver even survived.

Yea...very good points you have there. But I'm still undecided. Probably will stay that way till it comes down to it. Both are great cars in my opinion. Im actually trying to find a weakness in the tC. :D Who knows where my decision will sway in the next few months.

you have a few month, within that few months there will probably be lots of reviews on the tC. choose a car that will benefit you along the road. since you go to school and work full time, try not to pick a car that is way too expensive and dont forget about insurance.
