TRD parts are as long as they are installed by the dealer. But power wise. They give you a fraction of what real aftermarket parts due and TRD parts cost an arm and a leg not only to purchase but to install by the dealer also. So no TRD part is even worth getting. Might as well stay stock if that's what you're worried about.

are you asking if aftermarket bolt on power parts void the warranty? Or will aftermarket turbos and superchargers void the warranty?

We sell intakes from DC and AEM, headers, and exhaust systems.

TRD components DO seem to be more expensive but, if they do come with a charger for the 1.5, they would be covered under whatever factory warranty remains on the car at the time of install.

what determines voiding of warranties:

technically, if it did not come on the vehicle from the factory, it is not warrantee-able. If your dealership is real **** and real jerks, they could blow the whistle on you for ANYthing.

The way most dealers have been doing it is by only not-warranteeing the item if any parts in its direct-operation were modified.... (i.e. if you have a cold air kit, they won't void your warranty for your sound system, etc....) However, if your mass air flow sensor goes bad by the throttle body, they will void that warranty due to a cold air intake. **NOTE: this of course is not the case with the optional AEM you can order from the factory - this carries the whole vehicle warranty.

That is one of the beauties of the Scion - all the performance options available from the get go - wheels, muffler, intake.... no other manufacturer does that. Its only a pity that Scion does it with its 1.5 liter engines!

Caveat Emptor - some dealer-installed accessories are NOT covered by the new vehicle's warranty, but by a separate warranty from the dealer or aftermarket manufacturer - this holds true for some TRD parts you get installed at the dealer after delivery.

keep in mind this IS a toyota and is pretty damn reliable. you always have the option of modifying something and if it breaks, return it to stock before you visit the dealer on it - this is what a lot of us do. Some people just bite the bullet and pay the charges - keep in mind you are allowed to make modifications to the vehicle - its not against the law to void your warranty. Its up to you.

Major mods i think that dealers don't care too much about on the scions: intake, stereo, wheels, springs, tint, exhaust, etc.... as long as you don't open your engine or make any modifications to the internals of the engine, you'll be ok. Gray areas: aftermarket car alarms. Beware of these, as they can mess with your vehicle's electrical system and cause main harness frying and dead batteries. Black Flag: exhausts that have had catalytic converters removed, and vehicle remote start. these mess with your starting system and also tap into your electrical - these have been PROVEN to fry electrical harnesses. and for the exhaust - dont' remove the cat..... i can't stress that enough - that screws up your whole emissions system, and O2 sensors cost big bucks.... to top that off its illegal, and it makes the car annoyingly loud - they will be able to tell if you have no catalytic converter.

and as with anything, unless you are a professional installer, have someone else do your installs for you. If you are getting performance stuff and you are warranty conscious, have your dealer do the install and buy it from them...... have your stereo done by a professional shop - circuit city, best buy, etc... not some fly-by-night mom and pop shop. That should keep you in the clear!

Does this clear some things up?

he won't give you a "list" - no one keeps these, and technically, like i said, its illegal.

But, you can ask him what kind of mods they don't necessarily look down upon, and chances are he'll tell you the same list i just did (if he's cool like you say). If you need that assurance, just ask him.

But refrain from asking for a "list.".... on top of being illegal, having something like that in writing is considered "evidence." chances are he won't want to give you a "list".
