How long did yours take to get here?/where did it come from
I've been reading about people saying when their car got to "port". I assume their coming over from asia, but does that go for all xB's? i ordered mine through the dealership and he ordered it through scion.com, so does it still come from over there? Dealer said 6-8 weeks, in your expiriences is that accurate?
All xBs and xAs are made at the Takaoka Plant near Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture in Japan.
Listed as bB and iSt. Also notice that the site mentions Scion tC; made at the Tsutsumi Plant with close proximity to the Takaoka Plant.

The port we are referring to is the USPort that handles Toyota vehicles. The cars are shipped from Japan to your specific Toyota US Port. Not sure about North Dakota but for Mid-Atlantic it is Newark, NJ. Not sure about the long lead time. It basicly means that the dealer is not allocated the type of vehicle you specified and will have to wait for next month's allocation. The dealer may also trade vehicles with other dealers if the latter met your specifications.

Here is a timeline of my experience:
3/21: Put down deposit with dealer for an RS3. Dealer can only promise me that he would do his best to locate one or return my money.
3/25: Get call from dealer that his DX queen (the person at the dealer who does dealer exchanges, basically the person who gets the cars in) was able to get me one while it was still on the boat, due to arrive at port on 4/1. Guesstimation on having it in hand is 4/15.
4/1: Car arrives at port.
4/13: Car still listed as port status, but now have VIN assigned. New guesstimation date of 4/25 to have car in hand.
4/18: Call dealer to tell him to NOT attach any dealer badges/stickers or drill front bumper for front tags (no problem). While on phone he pulls up status and lo and behold it is now in Ground Status. He says it will be ready in about 2 days (or by the end of the week.)
It is not in my hands yet but I can almost smell it.

basically what im looking for is, since the dealer said 6-8 weeks, is that pretty much set then, or is it possible that it could come in sooner
Mine took 4 weeks. I gave the deposit late on Feb 15. Dealer said car was still on the ship, and had to arrive at West Coast port, be loaded on a train to Chicago, then be trucked here (Louisville, KY). Dealer called Mar 8 to say car was at the port and was expected here no later than Mar 17, which is when it did arrive.

Your car could come sooner for the same reason, or if the dealer finds another identical car closer in the pipeline to your city but going to another dealer, and can trade one of his other allocated cars for it. It could come later if you ordered accessories that are going to be installed at the port facility.

The dealership had a white one on the way from port so I grabed it...
So I went in on a friday, told them what I was looking for, they had it at port coming up to them. So I signed the papers and today I hope I get a call.....
The RS3.0 are a little different than the regular xB. They were all built about the same time period. They were sent to the US about the same time mid Feb. They were released as the port installed options were completed. So I put my money down on a RS3.0 at the end of Jan, They gave me one of the two they were allocated. They call at the end of Feb and stated that the xB was in the port. Delivery time was unknown. Called about 2 weeks later and said it was released from port. Got it on 3/7/06. About 6 weeks in total from when I placed the money down.
I just got the call. I go pick mine up at 5:00 this afternoon! This is the RS3, so basically one month from putting deposit down to picking up.
The only way I tracked mine was to call my dealer each day. He could tell me "due to arrive at port on such-and-such date", then "at port", then "on the truck" then "on the ground". If you want some really good info on the entire allocation process look here:

MiniCooper has a really neat system. If the dealer can't find the one you want, orders take 6-8 weeks. You are given an order number and a password to a website. At any moment you can get info, just like tracking a UPS package You can see when your car is scheduled to be produced and when it has been completed. Then you switch to its VIN for tracking. You can see when it is shipped, when it is due in port, when it arrives in port, when it goes on the truck, and where the truck is. A friend tracked the truck and met it at the dealer.
