Default My Scion TC's new sound

I just finished installing a new sound/entertainment system into my TC.

New:
Eclipse AVN5435
2 pairs of Polk db6500 component 6 1/2 speakers
+Foam baffles from crutchfield for all the 6 1/2 speakers
+Plastic spacers/brackets from crutchfield for all the 6 1/2 speakers
4 channel Alpine V12 amp for the db6500 components
2 channel Alpine V12 amp for the subs
2 12" Polk GNX subs
Tsunami Multi-Amplifier Power Kit (AMP48-CAP)

Pictures:

So what do you guys think?

I originally got the OEM sub, which sounded ok, but seemed to be under powered. I had the amps and subs laying around from my previous car and just kept wanting more out of the stock system. Finally I gave in and installed my system. While removing the OEM sub I noticed that the power wire & ground for it where very thin. I think that if it had a direct line to the battery it would have sounded great. But I'm glad I wasn't happy beacuse now my system is 100X better and super clear.

I still have to make the carpet flap stay down better, and replace the 2 8guage cables connecting the cap + to the distribution block with some 4guage blue wire when I get some. Also once I get some blue speaker cable for the subs I'll route those cables under the carpet too.

Those db6500 components sounds awsome! And the AVN5435 is very nice. I put my old dreamcast in the glove box to have something for people to play, but I think I'm going to put my modded Xbox in once I make a smaller case for it. That way I can store Mp3's, Videos, and games all on the 200gig HD I have. It will be a while before I can get to it all but I'll post pics when I'm done.

I installed everything myself, and would like to thank all those that post on scionlife.com because I have found tons of helpfull info that made this all possible.

P.S. Oh I almost forgot. Does anyone have an extra rear panel? The one missing from the second to the last picture?? After I removed the OEM sub I realized they didn't leave me the panel. Its been about a year now so I don't think they will just give me one for free. Thanks

Thanks everyone,

I know the box is huge, but I havn't come up with an ideal I like for a custom box yet.

As for the OEM sub, my friend just got a TC and I'm trying to get him to buy it.

Even with the 2 12's I can hear every sound while sitting in the back seats since those tweeters are right next to your head. I wouldn't last that long back there though, big headace after a few mins at loud vols.

Also I just installed everything so I hope the amps will stay. If they start to loosen up I'll have to switch to bolts/nuts. If you unzip the seat cover you can get to the big plastic piece, and if you pull it apart in the center you should have no problem bolting it on. I havn't noticed any problems yet, but I'll keep an eye on it.

Soon I'm going to tint the back windows and move the satalite ants to the back somewhere. That way everything looks stock from the front windows. That is what I was going for.

Very nice... I was thinking of doing the same for my interiors but using either Polk MMC6500 or SR6500's...

How much?

Let me think:

Amps - Retail when I got them was $400 each, I paid $198 each
Subs - Retail was $99 each, I paid around $30 each
Wire kit - Retail about $250, I paid <$100
AVN5435 - From Crutchfield for $1399
db6500 - From crutchfield for somthing like $169 a pair
Five days out of my life - Priceless

Total I paid is about: $2300
Retail would have been about $3000

I already had the amps and subs from when I used to work at Circuit City
And I was able to get a friend to hook me up with the wire kit.
I was thinking about getting the head unit from ebay but that would have really only saved me like $100 and I don't really trust ebay too much. I also got the speakers from crutchfield since they came with free brackets for my car and they were on sale, normally like $199.

All in all it's a killer sound system, and I only had to dish out the $1900 for the head unit, speakers and wire kit, I've had the amps and subs for a few years. The hardest thing to give up was my time. I work grave yard shift and am gone for 12hrs a day. I would get home at 10am and work till 4-5pm, sleep about 4hrs and go to work again. But it just makes me appreciate it more.

Nice. Very clean install. THough it looks like the 6.5's don't fit very nicely. LOVE the rear tweet mounts.. A+ for that one! Never was a big fan of speaker grills over subwoofers..and like you said, you would probably benefit from better enclosure. Other than that, tight. Enjoy.

ONly thing that sucks is you got auto!

The 6 1/2's are installed just like the stock ones were.
Here is a picture from Mandos's Scion stripdown tutorial of the original speakers.

Crutchfield included free speaker brackets that hold 6 1/2" speakers.
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-IVArYw6...SAT6&s=0&cc=01

So I removed the stock brackets that were ment for 5 1/4 and everything fit ok. I also used the crutchfield foam baffles to give them an enclosure and improve the sound.

The only thing that sucked was that the brackets only fit upside down, so the speakers are upside down. But you can't really see inside the grills. My camra may have picked up the db logo but I can't see it when I'm looking at the panel.
