Default Sold Performance Car for Scion XB?

Hi, I am new here, and I am thinking whether I should sell my IS300 for an xB. Any of you sold/trade in a performance car such as a G35, 350Z, Celica GTS, RSX Type S, or the like for an xB? If you have do you regret it or not? Please share your story.

Well, nothing that compares to the cars you speak of, but I did have a PT cruiser turbo GT. The price of gas out here in California is pretty high - 3.39 for regular, 3.49 for premium at the CHEAP stations! My premium eating turbo got only 23-25 mpg at best. No regrets , I going a bit slower nowadays but I smile going past the gas stations, and look real good doing it!

well, its not exactly a sports car, but i had a VR6 Jetta that was pretty well modded before i purchased my xB. it had been in lots of well known car shows, as well as Eurotuner magazine. so, i really didnt want to part with it. ya know, i built it from the ground up.
keep in mind that i have wanted an xB since before i bought the VR6; even before they were available in the states. so when the time came for me to move on due to the towering repair bills (damn expensive German cars ), the xB was my first pick. i knew i would be losing some SERIOUS power, but its allright. i have absolutly no regrets. i love the styling, interior space, reliability, and great gas mileage i get from her. plus, they have great aftermarket potential!
i was lucky enough to score a RS 3.0 that just happened to be rolling off the truck as i walked into the dealership.

sorry for the storytime, but in all honesty, i have no regrets, and couldnt be happier with my xB

I sold my mustang for my xB

Granted it was a 2.3L LX pumping out 88 BHP back in 1989, but it WAS technically a Mustang.

0-60 in 15.9. Yeah!

My g/f has a IS 350 sitting outside right now, she had a 04 IS 300 and they are truly fantastic cars but you are comparing apples to oranges here. I drive my xB and the IS probably equal amounts. The xB will feel more roomy than your IS 300. The interior of your car is of course superior to most any car purely because of materials ( god I miss those suede seats ) but workmanship and build quality is good in the xB. I think you will enjoy the gas mileage of a box but there will be no more running 70 mph and just easing the gas pedal to 100 + mph with no effort like your IS does. The xB is hardly a sports car , and saying that I am partial to my xB ( I have way more bass in my car hehehe ) because I feel quite comfy sitting in it riding down the road. I do prefer the stiffer seats in the box and the sit up style driving that I cant duplicate in the IS 300 . ( the headliner and windshield is too close to my head ) the IS 350 is a bit better , but also I have only owned one car so I am not fond of cars in general. I have always had either fullsize trucks or jeeps and I like the a stiffer ride and big view of the road they offered me. Every one is different and you need to ask your self can you go from driving a lexus to driving a scion? One of my g/f's co-workers just traded in his 04 IS 300 for a tC and he could not be happier about it. If maybe you could find a dealer that has Toyota rent a car or TRAC ( just about every toyota dealership has this rental car bussiness in house ) and rent a scion for a day or weekend and try it out sorta with your day to day activities it may help your decision. Or you might get lucky and get a weekend test drive. after a few days you will over look the lack of performance and see what makes the xB have such a loyal following and appeal that a lexus just doesn't offer.... good luck

Funny you mention this.... I am actually thinking of going the other way... i have an 06 xb with 3500 miles on it and am considering trading it in for a mitsubishi evolution or the subaru wrx sti.... since the xBs things hold their value so well, i think i will get about 17 or 18k as a trade in quote. They always give you a nice amount for a trade in. I had a dealer offering me $43k for my hummer (if i was trading it in for a newer model) when i had private offers in the mid $30k range.

i am going to go to both a mitsu and subaru dealer this weekend. i put the 3500 miles on my xb since january - so it's been roughly like 18 weeks - so that's about a couple of hundred miles per week.

i miss having something insanely and dangerously fast. it's something about the stress you relieve when you take it out on your narrowly geared 6 speed manual gearbox

I thought the same way until the stress relieved didn't equal the amount of the speeding tickets!

Default No Regrets'''

Had a 2.3 Mazda3 5-speed. Absolutely no regrets getting rid of that piece of junk for a reliable and "yes" much slower Automatique XB.

My XB has only been in the shop twice in a year and 1/2 for non-maintenance repairs compared to .......

"16 times" for non-maintenance repairs on that JUNK Mazda3 in just 10 months.

You do the math.

I am a much happier driver now even if I am much slower. I'd buy 10 more XB's in a minute if I had the funds and just keep them in a preservation tank to get them when I need them wayyyy into the future.

Had a Supra Turbo , don't miss it at all but you have to decide for yourself that you've had enough of "go fast"

I had a 1998 Honda Prelude SH. I don't regret selling it. I do, every now and then, miss the VTEC opening up and the occational floor-it-down-the-on-ramp power, but overall, the xB suits my needs better than the Lude.

Why not trade the IS300 in for a tC?

Performance is pretty much exactly the same as the IS300 and it's a brand new car for $17k.

Default Me too!

Yeah, I sold my 95 Impala SS to get my box. It had a SC 355, T56 6-speed manual transmission, 4:56 gears, Hotchkiss and Bilstein suspension.... I could go on for days with all the stuff I had done to that car. I do miss being able to hit 150 mph when I am bombing up to Reno for the weekend, and am heading up 80 at 2 or 3 in the morning. But, like all of you have stated, the price of gas (and tickets!) got to be too much, so I had to make a change. I am very happy with my box, but I do miss that Impala.
