Default First Post.. Thinking of getting the scion tC!! pros & c

First thing is first. this board rules.
I am looking for a new car and I heard some bad things about the other scoins trannys and stuff. but I am in love with the tC. this is the only scion I want. I am looking for a sporty car to buy and been looking. I want to purchase a car by end of summer. I also want it to be mod friendly, fast, and just cool, and since it is a toyota I know it will be good quality.
what do you guys know about this car?
also is 160hp enough? I might want to get the TRD version with 200hp, is that coming out the same time as the other one? anyone know how much the trd version will be? also I am planning on pulling out all speakers and putting all rockfords and stuff, I dont want to pull out the poineer deck bc it looks like it blongs there, but I was wondering if it is a good deck and also since it is poineer, I was wondering if it is XM ready?

I want this car in black, blue or grey, I was wondering which one I should get?
I already signed up for a test drive, my dealer will get themthis week.

Also I was wondering if I was making the right choice if I end up by buying this car? I plan on trading in my old car which I still owe payments on, but cant wait to get rid of, not much payments left.
should I pay off the car or just save for a down payment and trade in my car and take the trade value for it and have toyota take over payments for it and use the trade and deposit as money down?

sorry if I dont make sense. it is 12am here and thanks. any owners or people who have drove one please respond also!

also since this car is 160 hp does this mean it is faster then the celcia gt, and the trd version is 200 hp so does that mean it is fasster then the celica gts? how fast is the trd verion, how fast can both version do 0-60 also compare them to celicas

you're asking people what color you should get?

while you're at it, why not try asking us what type of meat you should get on your quizno?

The pros to this car are many. Name it and it has it. The Cons are hard to find. This car seems too good for the price. The 160hp should be enough for 90% of the people, but it will not be as fast as the Celica GTS. Test drive decide if the tC has enough power for you. That is what it is all about.

You are own your own with the color, most of us are having a hard time picking out our own color.

The stock stereo is XM ready but you have to get it through the dealer and it is expensive.

As for paying off the car. It should work out to be about the same, just be careful and dont let the dealer trick you into getting less for your trade then it is worth. They will try to confuse you with numbers when you trade in your car. When you go in try to work out the price of your new car and the trade-in value seperately.

We love the suuuuubs!!!

anyways..... all the colors look good to me.
pick a color that suits YOU. dont worry about what anyone else thinks.

as far as comparing to the celica.... keep all this in mind:

2004 celica gt
MSRP 17,570
engine 1.8L inline 4
power 140hp @ 6400 RPM
torque 125 lb-ft @ 4200 RPM
curb weight auto 2460 lbs /manual 2425 lbs
width 68.3 in
length 170.5 in
height 51.4 in
wheelbase 102.4 in
front/rear track 58.6/58.2 in
ground clearance 5.5 in

2004 celica gts
MSRP 22,235
engine 1.8L inline 4
power 180hp @ 7600 RPM
torque 130 lb-ft @ 6800 RPM
curb weight auto 2580 lbs /manual 2500 lbs
width 68.3 in
length 170.5 in
height 51.4 in
wheelbase 102.4 in
front/rear track 58.6/58.2 in
ground clearance 5.5 in

2005 tC
MSRP 16,465
engine 2.4L inline 4
power 160hp @ 5700 RPM
torque 163 lb-ft @ 4000 RPM
curb weight auto 2970 lbs /manual 2905 lbs
width 69.1 in
length 174.0 in
height 55.7 in
wheelbase 106.3 in
front/rear track 59.3/59.3 in
ground clearance 5.2 in

i dont know much about how the weight, size, torque and power all affect each other but i got the celica numbers from MSN auto compare and the tC numbers from the spec. sheet on scion.com
good luck on your decision.

such a nice car, I cant wait to test drive. it. I guess I have to be up close to the colors to get the color I know I want. I was thinking of getting a tiby but then I read more about this car and decieded to wait until this car came out.

I want a new car soon and thats why I want to go with the tC. it sounds to good to be true.a car thats 16k thats competes with 20k cars. thats just cool. I always liked black so I might go with that. thansks for the responces. I was wondering if I was dumb buying a car before any reviews come out on it or if the car has been on the orad for a while? because it could be cool but maybe 6 months to 2 years down the road it could have tons of issues

I'm getting the Black Cherry, a color I really didn't like, but this car changed that for me, it looks great in that color, and the white as well. The Celica GTS has 180HP, but the tC supercharger gets 200 or a little more, so you figure. Will the tC with the supercharger be more than a Celica GTS??? I don't know the prices, but I'm guessing that it will still be less, while having a better body style.
