Default Any other tall people here all but given up?

Before anyone says it, yes I know I need to test drive the car first.

That being said, almost all the reviews are sounding negative in this area. I am 6'6" and with people who are 5'10" complaining about headroom and legroom things are not looking good.

Oh well, I will know for sure soon.

Its all in the person man, i read most of the post here for every 5'8 person with "no head room!" there is a 6'3 person who says its fine, u cant really go by what people say its all opinions so yeh i would most defiantly test drive one....

Most of us over 6 feet are probably used to trying to fit into all kinds of different cars, and over time I've found that size can be deceptive...cars that look big enough to fit me nicely (my girlfriend's chevy corsica, uncle's dodge pickup) are actually head-bumpers, while I've fit comfortably in some rather small cars (my little brother's old mazda 323 hatchback comes to mind). It's not just relative to the person, it's relative to the car too.

My impression is that in Europe the Focus and the Jetta are family cars, but here in the US they're graduation presents for teenage girls--requirements for interior space are different here than they are elsewhere (see also the suv fad). You can survive on a lot less interior room than people would have you think these days...but you have to decide if you really want to.

Of course I say this having driven, for the past 5 years, a 1988 Isuzu trooper so big on the inside that has been used as a camper van on occasion (the rear seats fold down into a bed a la the honda element), so I should probably wait until I've driven the tC before I go shooting my mouth off. I'm just saying the snug fit might take a little getting used to depending on what you're driving now.

If my memory serves me correctly, however, the interior dimensions of the tC are closer to, say, the Accord coupe than the Civic coupe. I'm just preparing myself to have to ride in the new Galant my g/f is getting any time we want to bring along additional people.

It varies, some people are more torso than leg... if that is you, and you are 6'6 you may find that the Scion xB barely fits you. I am more leg than torso, so i have a spare 4" of space over-head (height 6'4). I have a friend who is 6'9 who sat in the Scion xB and told me that he was impressed with the head room and that even his legs didnt hit the dash (with the seat all the way back).
I would definitely not recommend an xA for people who are tall, period. Keep it under 6' for that model.

Basically you just own't be able to sit up straight. Being tall, that should be not be a problem for you...

I'm one of the taller people on this board and I am really not worried about fitting. If there is a problem, I'll simply lean the chair back as much as neccesary, in order to fit.

The farther you lean back, the more leg space becomes a problem, but I doubt that leg space in the tC will be a problem.

I wouldn't worry.. but only if you're willing to drive not sitting up straight.

i am 6' there is a seat heigh adjustment on the tC, i do feel touching the ceiling when i adjust the seat at the tallest position, but i have about 4 to 5 " of head room when it's in lowest position. if anyone is taller than 6'5, i guess you need to lean back. tC is right for me, except for the price.

Default 6'5" - No problem

Just took a short test drive on Friday and had no problem fitting.
I originally put down a deposit with the condition that I should be able to fit (too much to ask?? ).

If someone under 6' is having trouble with headroom, they need to take off the 10 gallon hat first... :D At 6'6" and 6'7" my wife and I have no trouble in the xB, we can sit behind each other without our knees touching anything, so worst case you get that instead. I have a long torso, and found the xA cramped in general with the seat all the way back and tilted some, but it was tolerable. The xB is awesome, had it 2 weeks now and it fits great. I didn't wait on the tC since I figured the space would still be a little cramped. It's probably better than the xA though.

6'4" 300lbs (football player)

lol the space inside is fine... I have other complaints about it, but the interior room was not one of them.

wow you guys are a tall couple. im only 6'0

there should be enough room for me. considering i put the seat almost to furthest sliding position. and slightly reclined. so im pretty sure it will be just fine for me.

Then the wheel gets further away (which doesn't telescope) as well as the shifter.

6' here and I have inches to spare in my Celie.
Haven't sat in a tC, but from what I hear its the slope of the roof that matters. The shorter ya are the closer ya sit towards the front and the roof slopes closer to ur head give'n ya the impression that there isn't much head room. The father back ya sit the more head room ya got. At least thats what I understand from what some peeps are say'n. Most important thing is go test drive one. Don't take someone else's word.

I am encouraged by our 6'4" 300lb friend here since he is likely shoulder and hip broad as well. Being a former boxer with massive shoulders, just over 6'2", and torso long... if I fit (even remotely) it is likley 99% will fit. Can't wait for our local store to get a couple in for test drives.

I don't know why some of you are bringing up the xA and xB as they are different cars and just because you can fit in them means nothing with the tC.

I don't mind having to lean back a little, it's when I have to push the seat so far back I look like a stupid "gangsta-wannabe" with my arms fully extended to grab the wheel and trouble looking over it all that I have problems. Most of my height is carried in my legs, but I am actually more worried about headroom here then anything else. It's the area most reviewers seem to point out.

I do agree you can't judge a car till you sit in it. I have said on this board before I can't fit in a Civic for the life of me, but a Mazda 3 (same class) feels just fine. I should be able to tell soon.
