Toyota / Scion salesman
I stopped at a dealership a few hours ago to look at the new TC and was approached by a salesman. Even though he was not pushy, he did try to tell me a lot about the car, like I didn't know that stuff before and stood with me the whole time I was there. Not that I minded, but I thought the Scion salesman where supposed to leave you alone or maybe say hi and let you look around.
He gave me his card and when I went to check it a few minutes ago, it said Toyota Sales on it. Is it that the Toyota salesman are selling Scions or is it that they moved him from Toyota to Scion and he has not gotten new business cards yet??? Just curious.

:?: :?: We got no idea.... maybe the salesman who gave you the card can answer it.. sorry.
our training suggests that we acknowledge your presence, and if you inquire we should ask "what do you know about Scion?" in an effort to AVOID going over info that you know already. most likely the salesperson was a lot shark, just call the dealer and ask specifically for a Scion Rep, and deal with them.
What the hell do you want - a salesman that can read your mind and already know that you are well informed about the car. The dude was just doing his job, no need to be a pompas *****, get over it. it's nothing to get worked up over - just tell him that you're just looking or you just wanted to see it in person, I'm sure he'd leave you alone

OK guys, calm down...
I think we are getting the "Pure Price" action confused with "no pressure." The guy still wants to sell you the car, no matter if you can haggle on price or not. I mean, the guy has to eat.

I work for a Toyota store in Arlington, TX. Scion/ Toyota wants to make sure that only Scion certified salespeople sell Scions. That being said, there is nothing against a Toyota salesperson also being Scion certified. That is how it works at our dealership. We have myself and a few other guys who can sell Scions, but there is not enough Scion volume here yet for me to only sell Scion and still pay my bills. So, we sell both. I hope this helps.

there are dealerships out that there that has their toyota salespeople selling scions, so they're selling both. then there are dealerships like mine where we are a completely seperate dept from toyota. the difference at our dealership is that you do the transaction with one person form beginning to end. there's no salesman, team captain, sales mgr and finance mgr to see, just me. so its a little easier the process when you buy the car. this is how scion wanted it but there are dealership that feel that its too much work for one person to handle.
At my store, we have a lot of customers who cross-shop Scion and Toyota. The auto group I work for lets salespeople seel a car at any of it's lots. So, I can sell a customer a Nissan Altima if they prefer it to a Camry. Or, I can take a Tundra to the Ford store to be compared with the F-150.
We feel it is easier on the customer to be able to stick witht he same person the whole time, even when it comes to other brands we sell, or even used cars we sell.

Yup, like it's been said, it seems the the Toyota guys are Scion certified cause that's what mine was telling me as well. This is the same guy who sold my parents a Sienna and a Rav4, and my grandmother a Camry, lol.
