Default Mazda M3 almost beat me!

onto the freeway as we were racing on the 2 lane onramp!! It was some chick driver (No offense to you ladies..but I have yet to see a chick racing a car) and I was practically flooring it and she was still keeping up.. I didnt think those M3's had that much HP.. I thought it was a dummed down version of the M6.. now I gotta do something to get more speed/pickup in the lower gears.. next investment is the Magnaflow exhaust, and eventually SC/Turbo (gotta save the cash)..

between a manual mazda 3 and our tC's , it's a drivers race.

^i agree. both cars produce the same hp/tq.. and i think the m3's are lighter than the tC's.

It's simply a "Mazda3." And a stock Mazda3 will beat a stock tC, especially through some corners.

And, you're an idi...oh, I won't say it, I'd probably get flamed for it.

ok this is not something I normally do, but I figured I'd chime in.
here's my experience with the Mazdas’.
as far as the 6's go, the Autos are faster than the manuals, I assume it would be the same with the 3 considering the 3's engine is the same as the 4cynlder mazda6 only diff is the 3 are just a little lighter.

if racing an auto 6 (which has the same 4cylnder motor in it as the 3) it depends on what speed you are at.... I have found that around 60ish the 4banger has a chance to pull, but any lower (or much higher for that matter) (and if the tC can get a good start) its fair game, tC should pull ahead. remember, they only are equipped with a 4speed transmission (Mazda 6 autos) so when you're in 3rd they are in 2nd and by the time your in the early stages of 4th they are just switching into 3rd. the gearing becomes an issue at that point. In third gear they top out about 120. which is funny because they are limited to 120.... which means that even if they get to 120 and switch into 4th they won’t go any faster(again on the autos)... so all in all...

assuming that it was an auto 4cylnder and if you had been Stupid enough(not saying you are at all!) to go upwards of 120mph on the on-ramp, then you would of pulled ahead just due to the 3's speed limiter...
I know that was a lot of random jumbled information. and I bet its not all accurate... I'm just putting it out there because I have nothing better to do right now.

2.3L Mazda 3's are slightly faster than a scion tC, stock for stock.

Same power, and they're a bit lighter.

I don't see why everyone in here is saying the mazda3 is faster then the tC. I raced one with an intake & exhaust, I had 2 cars on him from a roll in 1st gear to about 80ish.

Anyone have any bone stock time slips for a mazda3 that beats a 15.5 @ 89?

Or is everyone just guessing because it's slightly lighter and makes similar power?

Car and driver ran a 16.0 with the mazda3 and a 15.7 with the tC.

Just do a google search and look at some of the times, the mazda3 is not faster.

Thats only in first gear, i think mazda is limiting the power in first gear, but otherwise, its 275. I could be wrong tho... but i read that somewhere.
