Nothin yet, maybe when the Mazdaspeed 3 comes out. Then again, that will probably be 20-25 thousand. But so will a supercharged tC with a few options on it. Good thread

hmm .... for that kind of price, I think tC is unbeatable
but I was thinking about Mazda 3 as tc's rival
The Mazda 3s is the obvious rival IMHO. The two are pretty comparable price-wise considering that the 3s has been out for almost a year and dealers are willing to haggle. A friend of mine got a 3s hatch for $800 under invoice.
No the new chevy Cobalt will not have anything on the Tc.
The cobalt is taking place of the Cavalier, and will suck just as bad.
Thanks for keeping an open mind The Cavalier is junk, but that doesn't mean that the Cobalt is. Totally different platform, revised engines. In fact, the only thing the two share are engines.
Hell, I'm one of the biggest Toyota fanboys around, but I can take my head out of my a$$ long enough to keep an open mind about fresh models from competing makes coming out.
Wouldn't have another chevy had a Camaro and a Silverado and they were both crap, plenty of trips to the dealership for problems. I mean come on, looking at the ugly ___ wing on the Cobalt.
I have a Ford Expedition now with 100,000 miles and never been to the dealership for a problem.
Me and my girlfreind are both getting scions, she has ordered her BCP Tc, and in a few months I am getting my Camouflage Xb.
well since the top of the line crapalier starts at 18k, its a safe bet the Cobalt in the SS trim will be 20k+. The 18k cavi doesnt even touch the tC's standard options either, let alone the build quality. But th Cobalt does look good in SS trim, minus the spoiler though, I think it will be pricier then the tC, even with every TRD option including the supercharger.

When's the last time someone spend $18,000 on a Cavalier? Sure, that's the MSRP on an LS, but you could walk out of the showroom with one for easily $15,000 or less with the rebates/incentives that GM throws out. The only reason why the Cavalier has stuck around so long is for CAFE reasons and GM loses money on every one they sell...but the money they lose on each Cavalier is more than made up for with the profits they make on every Tahoe/Suburban/Silverado/Yukon/etc. they sell.
