15" steel wheels for winter
I just received some winter tires mounted on 15" x 6" steel wheels from Tire Rack. When I was in the process of ordering them, I put in that it was for an 06 tC and a 15" package came up,so I ordered it. Supposedly Tire Rack test fits everything,so I didnt really have any doubts if it would fit or not. I did read on here a bit before I ordered but now Im reading that they wont fit(15" steel wheels in general). Has anyone ordered these wheels from Tire Rack and had problems with them fitting?
If you do a search on here I tried 15" steels for a Subaru that didnt fit on my tC. If the offset was a little different, they would have cleared the caliper. I could actually grind the caliper down and it would clear.
Anyway, my point, they will most likely fit. It just depends on the offset of the wheel. My 15's didn't, but tirerack is pretty good and probably found a universal 15" rim that works.
I am going to use 16" steels from a Subaru this winter. I already test fit them and they work without issue, just need lug nuts.

Did your wheels work fine? Anybody with any info please help. I called first and the guy told me they tested them and they worked. This package was $550 cheapest I fround for winter tires and wheels.
I have 15" steel wheels on my tC for the winter and they fit fine. They are OE (with a universal bolt pattern) for a Grand Am actually, so the offset I beleive is 42... but yeah they fit just fine. If tire rack said they will fit, they will fit fine.
I payed 494 out the door for 4 wheels, 4 Semperit Sport Grip tires, mounted balanced yada yada at Discount Tire, go to the store, sometimes you can get a better deal than online.

IT DOES WORK! As I said, I have a 15" rim on my car... it depends on the OFFSET, not the size of the wheel, you probably want an offset that puts the wheel further out, such as a 42 or maybe a 38. Also, make sure you are getting a 6" wide wheel, you wont be needing a 7 inch wheel if you are getting the proper size tire (should be 205 width or less)
Just to make sure I called my scion dealer. The guy said the 15" wheel would work but I should buy toyota ones from them that have the air sensor in it. He said other wise some light would go on saying low air in tires. I think he was full of it because the total cost was $1500. I'm just glade to know the 15's work. I live in rochester NY and the winters arn't fun, do you think I should put sand in my trunk? If so how much? I'm not sure if it would help with front wheel drive.
Sand wont be necassary with a good set of snow tires, thats why you have them. Infact I have read that can actually be a negative factor, adding the weight to the back end because in case of a skid, thats that much more momentum bringing the back end around.
Also, you dont have an 07 do you ? I thought the RS1 was an 06, in which I dont beleive your wheels have that sensor in them ... I know my 06 does not, granted I dont have the RS1 wheels, so who knows.

I just went to autozone today and bought 20 open ended 12mmx1.25 acorn style lugs. They were $1/each.
I don't know what you would do to rustproof your car. All I do in the winter is make sure to get it through a touchless car wash to get salt off ASAP, and I'll even go to a self serve powerwash place and get under the car with the water to really clean everything off.
Make sure if you are using the power wash in the winter that if cold enough (and slow enough) the water will freeze on the car and make opening the doors difficult.
