So... Um... How's the Weather?

Damn, I'm excited for this! I love wind storms. I love floods. I'm currently fighting with my husband over who gets to do the newspaper route tonight. I love it when it's like a war zone out on the route... or anything to break up the monotony. Besides, I trust my driving abilities more than his and don't want him running over down power lines or trees, lol.
But the wind report confuses me a bit. I need to go to another website so they can explain it better for me. When they say the center of the storm will be north... am I the north they speak of?

When all is said and done, we're expecting 2-6" of rain in the lowlands, and upwards of 5-10" in the Cascades and perhaps over 9-10" in the Olympics. For perspective, we usually get about 6" for the entire month of November, and most of Seattle's Top 10 wettest days ever are around 3". (The record being 5.02", set in October of 2003.)
For example, the National Weather Service says the Skagit River near Concrete could rise to 10 feet over flood stage if current forecast models pan out. It also means this entire event could be on par with some of the biggest flooding events in the past 15-20 years -- maybe even approaching the historic November 1990 floods. So those who live in flood plains need to take precautions now with respect to river flooding.
Anybody here in an area where it might flood? I live just up the hill from an area that floods badly. The only affect it will have on our life is a 20 mile detour for our kid's school bus, wrestling practice and the closest town. Oh, mail service will take longer.
Ugh. Driving home from work yesterday and today, I discovered I-405 was prone to flooding (around Tukwila and Renton). Around 5 inches of water here and there, it really makes me not wanna get a CAI.
Also, I hate idiot drivers. This late 80s Camry (I think?) zoomed past me through a puddle and made a nice splash on my windshield. I lost forward vision for 4 seconds - something you do NOT want to happen when it's pouring, traffic is moving at 60mph AND when the same traffic is also stop/go'ing.

Jenna...we are such kindered spirits. I too love the chaos that extreme weather brings.
Anyone here remember the Inagural Day storm of '92??? That was the best!!! I was without power for 6 days. And the snow fall we got that winter also socked us indoors.
I'm surrounded by areas where it floods. Yesterday 'A' street in Auburn near the river was flooded and I ended up driving through a 2 1/2-3 foot squall over the road. I almost stalled out but made it through okay. (Mo...time to get that Toyota truck!)
But while the valley floods (and my mom's driveway) we are up on a hill so we can stay put up here okay. Our problem is more the effect of rain on the trees in our forested areas. In '92 we lost almost 1 tree per street and they took down so many power lines. Last year we lost a tree in our front yard which smashed our CR-V. It was a 118 footer! hehe good times!

I absolutely remember the '92 storm! I was ____ed because the block that my house and work (Pizza Hut) was on was the ONLY place that had power that I knew of. I had to work that night at Pizza Hut and were UNBELIEVABLY slammed.... all those people without power, wanting food.
And the '95 snow storm rocked too. My grandmother's carport collapsed like almost everybody else's did!

I'm in bellingham, and most parking lots are flooded now. My street isn't, but I know of many that are. It's nuts. My boss canceled work so far today, as we work on Lake Whatcome and the wind was 20mph last week, and now its probably well over that.
The rain is coming down so hard, I just don't want to go to class, because I will be soaked real fast.

NOAA predicts that we will get 9" of rain in this 24 hours (4am-4am) and that is more than the record. The record being 5.02" set in October of 2003.

It's in rain like this that Mo & I usually go test drive cars. This is the best way to see how they handle. A few years ago we went when there was standing water everywhere and when the dealer pointed me to turn into a parking lot it was a little early and I totally curbed it (because the water level was over the sidewalks). He laughed and said not to worry. We were the only ones crazy enough to walk into his dealership that evening.
yeah i hate the rain, but im from AZ so that probably has something to do with it lol!!! and the fact that were going to the field tuesday till friday and working, eating, sleeping in the rain just plain SUCKS!!! you havent lived until you eat a plate of nasty army food that is swimming on the plate.....
I love the rain...
Its the RUTS on 405 and I-5 that I hate. My box is hydroplaining all over the place..I've had to air it up to 4x4 mode. If the roads were in better shape..I wouldn't mind it.
Sheesh...Not to mention the fact not having a garage and workin on the xB sucks.

TCO6CHICK and jordon6001, you make me feel very old. CoreyAnn... how about you?
The Stilliguamish river, literally just down the hill from me, just had it's flood predictions changed. Instead of being moderate, it's now planned out to rise 2 feet above the highest in recorded history. They've been under-predicting lately too.
