"AUX-IN" jack is emitting a high-pitch whining sou
The AUX-IN jack located in the center console in my stock '07 Scion tC makes an annoying as hell loud whining high-pitch sound when it's connected to a Sirius satellite radio reciever, however, it works fine with my iPod.
When I press the AUX button on my radio and nothing is plugged in it stays quiet. When I plug in one end of an audion cable into the jack it starts emitting this very high pitch noise. When I plug in my iPod to the other end, the noise stops. Fine, whatever, as long as the sound STOPS.
However, I got a Sirius Satellite radio that has a line-out so that I can hook it up directly to my radio. When I plug it in, the Sirius works fine and I can hear it but on top of the music I hear the same ____ing TERRIBLE high-pitch sound. What's causing this? And why? Why would it work fine with the iPod but not the Sirius radio? Obviously, it's the cars fault seeing as how the sound is there without anything plugged in.
It is interesting to note that when the car is not moving, the noise is BARELY audible. When I press on the gas, the whining gets louder and higher. When I'm on the highway, it's basically unlistenable. Can anyone help me? This does not sound normal at all. The audio cable is a standard cable. I've tries two different cables with the same results. I'm sick of this horse-____, my ears are bleeding. Does ANYONE else have this problem? Please help!

yep, could be feedback from the electrical system if you are charging/plugging it in. Also, if you are using different cables, it could be a bad cable. If neither of those, then the unit itself is bad.
More than likely it is a feedback loop. They might have the stuff at Radio Shack to fix that. Also, now might be a good time to add an engine grounding kit. There are several articles in the tech section about it.

Thank you for your quick reply. I just drove around my block trying to mess with it. You are right, if its plugged into the cig lighter port, the ____ing noise is on. When I unplugged it, it stopped.
However, theirs no way to power the Sirius dock reciever without it being plugged in, when I unplug it, it powers down. What the hell? Why is it if the device is getting power it has to make a noise??! Absurd

There are lots of threads on this and things similar, here's one:

A "Ground Loop Isolator" (pick one up at most any decent audio shop - even RadioShack) should fix you right up...
