Default People with 20's, a few ?s.

I'm going shopping tomorrow for rims, and im looking at either 19's or 20s. For you people who have them, should i be looking a certain offset? i dont want them to stick out or anything, so what would be the best offset?

Default People with 20's (actuall TRD 19's)

This amazing silence...it's deafening...

I've watched this thread for a couple of hours....and nah dah...well, I'll jump in with only my TRD 19's (RH Evolution...looked on rim didn't find the ET = offset marking)on my RS1 #377.

I want to say they are 40mm offset....they are RH Evolution with TRD hub plates and running Pirelli P-Zero Nero 235-35-19 for the last two years (about 75,000 miles on second set now).

These have rubbed on the front tires only on full stop turns in the parking lot...and just in the back where the plastic (front only) wheel well inserts overlap and stick out...in two years that over lap has worn down about 1/4 inch by 3 inches...means ZERO impact on tires or rust proofing continuity. ALSO: have 15mm spacers and this tucks them into the opening nicely.

Here's an Offset charts provided by Kyowa Design (http://www.kyowadesigns.com/appGuide.html):

Scion Xb 4x100 17x7 ET42,45 KR206,KR210,KR228,KR232,KR518
17x7.5 ET38 KR316
18x7.5 ET40,42,45 KR206,KR210,KR228,KR232,KR316,KR518,KR566
19x7.5 ET45 KR206
20x7.5 ET45 KR206

I'd like to see your purchase...GO TO 20s.

=========
To further the discussion here is a Definition of "OFFSET" from <http://ezinearticles.com/?Alloy-Wheels-Offset,-PCD,-Plus-Sizing-and-Up-Stepping&id=172078>:

Offset means what?

Offset is normally stamped or engraved into the wheel and is measured in millimeters of ET: ET is the short form of the German word Einpresstiefe which translates as insertion depth.

Offset is the distance between the hub mounting face at the back of the wheel and the wheel's centerline.

Negative Offset wheels have their mounting face toward the rear of the wheel - powerful rear-wheel drive cars often have wheels with negative offset.

Zero Offset wheels have their mounting face even with the centerline of the wheel and are by definition ET0.

Positive Offset wheels have their mounting face toward the front face of the wheel. Front wheel drive vehicles usually have positive ET wheels. Eighties & Nineties Volkswagen wheels are generally ET38.

and the front Lip. LOL

anyways, Offset is not about Diameter, it's about width, if you get a 7.5 (Like Don) with a 20-35 offset you're fine, if the wheels have a higher offset (like 40-45) use some spacers or Hub Shims (OTG) but don't go over 10 or 15 mm or you'll need new studs and those can get expensive for what they do.

hope this helps.

I have 20x7.5 w/ 34 offset.

I had to run spacers because of clearance issues between the front brake caliper and the wheel's hub. My wheels with 34 offset plus 14mm spaces, the wheels line up perfectly with the fender when looking at it from the front, and slightly tucked in the rear.

so if im getting the kyowa kr210's in 18x7.5 they have a 45 mm offset youre suggesting that i will need we'll say 10mm spacers? what do they do just push the wheel out? the tires will be 225/40 on top of some stechs so hopefully the rubbing will be minimal....

i had to use spacers just because the way the wheel hub was designed, hit the caliper. I have bought new Motegi 20x7.5 with 42 offset and the hub on those are fine without spacers.
