Default thinking about buying a new car

well after what happen at the car show i came up with a few ideas and starting thinking about what i need to do to the scion just for me to compete with everyone and after the awards where given out i came to the idea i need to stop putting stuff into the scion and buy a car and make it a drift car/ race, so ive been looking for some cars and getting some ideas to what i need to do. oh maybe i should say why i am thinking this. At the show i notice all the cars that won were what cars that had mods done to them to street race and drift and so forth, car shows in seattle seem to be based on that and not big body kits and all out modded with interior stuff, just plain jane stuff like roll cage and gauges and seats and alot of stuff to the motor and suspension. So i think i am going to buy a car that i can compete with them and still keep the scion as a drive around car and maybe certain shows that dont look at race mods and look for the body kits and stuff like that. i have a few ideas on the car and there is a place i am going to check out down here where i live that has what i need, this weekend so sorry if this makes no since to other but i am not one that can write good stories lol or what ever you call it. thanks and check you later

so...your going to keep your scion as a daily driver and get a project car? does that sum up what you took waaaaaaaaay too long to say?

either way it is going to be a money pit whether it is your tc, or some project car.

Why can't you do these things to your car? Cage=$600, gauges=$200 aprox., suspension= $1400 apox., etc. These are things that are not going to change no matter what car you buy! I would save the ime and money and mod what you have, you already have a good thing going!

i want a drift car a RWD i also want a car that i dont have to worry about warrities. I am looking at maybe getting or try to get a 240sx, 180sx, Ae86(86 carolla) or something else. You gots to relize that when you go to a car show in seattle that is what those judges are looking for when judging come on think about it who won the most trophies hondas and nissans that had what done to them, race mods not bling bling fancy fancy lights or body kits well the drift cars did but they were made to race and drift and plus you cant drift in a tc ( sorry erik getty you are the only one that i know who can well downhill drift) but still i just want a project car or a car that has little stuff done to it that i can finish with my own touches and test my hand at something else. i love my tc and will not ever get rid of it but i just think i would love to do mods on work on the cars that got me started in the import scene.

Well it's not really that the judges prefer performance over visual. If you didn't notice, this year, the whole scene is moving more towards the "Clean" look. No more r34 skyline kits on the 88 accord anymore. More along the lines of a subtle, sleeper-ish, luxurious look. Something that's modified, but modified the less blinged out way, and in my opinion more stylized. But honestly, it sounds as though you want a true sports car. One of the things I've always wanted to do was grab a mid-90's 240 hatch and swap in favor of an sr20 redtop; rework the supsension and turn up the boost! I've heard that there is a following of drifters in seattle that meet in office building parking lots late at night (with stories A LOT like something out of Tokyo Drift). That sounds like a lot fun!

well that is cool, but yeah i would love to own a drift car and do what like i said got me into the import scene, with a true import. there is a 180sx sitting at my aprartment and it has been there for almost over a year, it has advan rims, a silvia grill and what i can see a inner cooler which means that it might or has an turbo on it, but that thing is no one drives it and i have not seen the owner working on it or the owner at all, i would love to buy it from him and finish what he started, oh yeah it has a millitary sticker on the front window so i am thinking he is gone over seas or something, but other then that i want to go old school import and build a drift car simple as that and show it.

Brad, just make sure you have a bottomless pocket book 'cause building a drift/race car is going to be expensive. If building it doesn't break the bank, it's the maintaining it and the tires for all the drift sessions. I would love to help ya out when ever I can if you need it on your new project.

I too would love to build a drift car, but my pockets aren't that deep & I'm already having a hard time trying to make the Xb pimp looking or keeping it nice. I can't have another hobby car!!

i don't think a ae86 would be right for you. while initial d would have you believe that the 86 is the perfect car, it is only really capable in the hands of a good driver. because of its modest engine output, you have to go all out on every drift. i'd get a 180 to 240 sx because of their more powerful engines making them more forgiving to handle and recover with.
