Default Did the Dealer Drill Holes In your bumper to mount License ?

Ok how many of you had your front bumper drilled with 2 holes to mount the front License Plate. I told my dealer not to drill the holes. But if they did drill the holes and you dont want them making it any larger than it is I have made the front license plate bracket that mounts to the lower honeycomb grill. with no dilling at all. I know that you can make it yourself but I have made them and ready for shipping.

For those reading this and going to buy a scion this is somehting that you should get.

Infact I think the dealer should provide this for everyone!

in CA its the law here to have plates in the front and back. We have to have the holes drilled in the front for the front plate.

But if you guys had a bracket or the customer came in with the barcket, I see no need to drill those holes.

In Hawaii we have that same law and I understand that the dealer have to comply to the laws. Mines was not drilled and only a few that actuallly told the dealer not to drill holes didnt get holes. But now, they tell the customers they have to drill those ugly holes. In fact my co worker just bought one and he told them that he didnt want the hole drilled and it was drilled and I had made him the bracket. He was ____ed.

I dont so why delaers have to drill the hole if the customers have this bracket ready to mount. The bracket actually make the License plate sit right where the hole would have been. I just dont uderstand.

If it was the dealer I would find out how they can get these brackets and actually offer it as an option like the rest of the items they sell and actually make a few bucks for the bracket and labor to install them.

If any dealer wanted to sell these brackets I could provide them for you and give you a very good price on a bluk order. I would figure that you guys could sell them for at least 35 bucks installed.

Unfortunately, I have holes in my front bumper also.

I did not realize that there was Not a bracket, only assumed, since the plate deal was on there.

Anyhow, it sucks.

But cez la vie, if Scion of Glendora gets any front mount "kits" in, I would hope they would retro mount them for anyone who purchased from them. Otherwise, we have holes.

I have holes in mine also...My box came with the front license plate and the dealership signage when I took delivery...I jsut figured they came like that...To honest though (unless your like showing your car), I don't get why people are so up in arms over the front plates being on...I guess if the holes are ugly to you thats okay, but really theres nothing wrong with having a front plate IMHO :D But hey to each his/her own I guess...I'd like to see that bracket that was designed and where it mounts to...Is the position of the fornt plate with the bracket in a more appealiong place than the center of the bumper??? Just curious :D

hi everyone... I'm a newbie here, and I'm so happy to hear other people HATE this hole drilling bull-ish. I got my scion more than a year ago and i was so stoked to get it (after a 3 month wait) that I just brushed off the holes and decided to live with them. Now, I wish I had complained.... Any suggestions for fixing them w/out replacing the whole bumper for the 400 bucks (the same dealer) quoted me? I'm not sure if this bracket idea will cover them...

I don't think we peeps in Cali have to have them and I see cars without the front plates all the time.

It is required in the state of CA... You have to have a front and back plate... Obviously, a lot of people don't put the front on due to aesthetics. Rarely have I seen people get pulled over for a lack of the front plate. However, if a officer needs a reason to pull you over, you're giving them one right there....

As for holes or no holes... If you have holes on the front, but don't want to mount the plate, you can always get plastic fasteners to fill em... I've got them on my other car, and I'm planning on doing it to the Box... You can get them at most Automotive stores...

I have a similar set up on mine. I posted it about 2 months ago. Mine is really not hard to make yourself, and costs next to nothing. Luckily i took delivery on a Sat, when the mechanics werent there to tap the front bumper.
