I went to the dealer today to take advantage of my 3 free oil changes :D , and when the guy there saw that I had 2900 miles on it he told me that it was too early to get my oil changed and that it should get it done after 5000. So does that mean that even if I want to change my oil every 3000 miles, they will not do it?

I was looking to get my oil changed tommorrow. I have less than 1,500 miles. I would like to get the oil change and probably start doing it myself at 3k with synthetic. Can Toyota refuse the free oil changes due to mileage?

 

I got my first oil change at around 2800 miles. Because it's a new car, I should've got it changed at aroun 1000, to get all the metal shavings and such out... *shrug* I'm at 8300ish miles and I'm a-okay! What does the "guy" care? Maybe they were real busy? Call the dealer up again and set up an appointment...and get your oil changed!

 

I told him that I would prefer it if I could change it now as opposed to later and he said that since you now have a toyota you don't need to change the oil every 3000 miles. I think I'll just go somewhere else to change my oil for now and then at 5000 go back to the dealer.

 

At my Toyota dealer we recommend changing oil every 3000 miles. 5000 is a bit excessive.

 

i went and test drove an xa yesterday and one of the things i was told is that the oil only needed to be changed every 5000-6000 miles because of the quality of the motor.

p.s. i really liked the xa, i was surprised by how well it drove for such a small car. just my $.02

 

If the dealer wont change the oil for you do it your self. When it comes to the first oil change it should really by done by the first 1,000 miles then again at 3,000 then you can take up a normal oil change system. Thats at least what I have seen a good deal of people say.

 

A lot also has depends on how you drive your car. If your racing or driving your car really hard you will need to change the oil a lot more. The hoter your engine gets the quicker your oil breaks down. That would be my .02 cents worth.

I plan on getting mine changed the first 1,000 2,000 and then 3,000 miles so I can start using synthetic oil. I have always used synthetic and I would never use anything else.

 

I went to change mine at 100, to get all the metal shavings out. But they said the oil was changed when the car came in port from Japan. SO not to worry about that. I don't think you need to jump the gun and get it done at 3000. Even the manual tells you to get it done at 5000. I think some of the new engines dont need it at 3000 anymore, everyones just used to it on there previous cars.

They seem very confident in these vehicles so I'm going to take their word for it.
