No New Scions Until 2017
According to Edmunds, we've got three years to wait till Scion drops any new models or major redesigns on us. To me? That sounds really, really, ominous. Three years of facelifts and special editions seems... unsustainable.
On the other hand, that's a lot of time for development of really cool and interesting new product. Scion has two vehicles in development already, which is a little bit comforting. Even without new models, Scion has the full backing of Toyota. Three years is a long time to limp along, but I think they can do it.
What do you think? What SHOULD they be building?

They need to focus more on style and performance and stop being a stylish alternative compared the likes of a Toyota Corolla. I'm not saying they need to hardcore track cars, but build cars for people who need a decent new car but want to have some fun and style in their life.

I can't recall exactly where I read this but I recall seeing somewhere that Toyota was backing off of Scion new development and feels that the brand has begun to occupy the same market space as Toyota vehicles. This is the reason, so the logic goes, that Scion is not seeing any being developed in the next few years and Toyota dealers are supposedly not being penalized if they choose to drop Scion.
Is there any truth to this? Is Toyota about to make the same kind of monumental mistake that Honda did when it try to rebrand Acura and killed the Legend, Vigor and Integra? I wrote a little more here with some links to discussion of two new models slated for 2017: Scion Aftermarket Customization (SAC): Toyota Putting the Brakes on Scion?

According to this the xB will be redesigned for 2015, not dropped. If they bring it out in January 2015 (as a 2015 model), then that would be only 1 year away at this point. But I have no idea.
The xB seems to soldier on for now as a 2014 model which seems like a carry-over from 2013 without any changes that I can tell.

I should make the point that Scion is bringing three brand new models out for 2015. The original report was really dire (I mean 2017?!). It's no so surprising that They were wrong. Cest la vie.
What's interesting is that these new models are still unknown. One will likely be an xB. One will probably be a variant of the FR-S. And the third one will be... an amphibious crossover. Okay, that's not true, but no one really knows what else they're bringing out.
Scion does have a few updates for the tC and the FR-S in 2015, though. Pictures and a press release are posted on the blog here.
