I did this with my xA. Much of the disassembly of the console was the same. I couldnt find the rubber light covers in blue (AutoZone and Pepboys can suck it) so i attempted to use blue permanent marker. So far, seems to work. I am concerned about the bulb temperature burning off the ink, however. (Thats what happened when I tried the permanent marker on the dome light.)

I can take pictures of the process if anyone wants them. Shouldnt need them though, taking the thing apart is pretty cut and dried if youre cautious and look before you start yanking on stuff.

UPDATE:
Blue permanent marker is too dark. Gonna try turquoise. Guess its a hit or miss thing. Im thinking I might just have to jerry rig a series of LEDs into the console. Why Toyota tried to route such a low-wattage light through cheap clear plastic is beyond me... seems to be a stupid way to do things.

how do you take off the xA's front panel? I don't want to break it.

but very carefully :D

the silver accents may scratch your AC panel if you pull too hard...

also, watch out for the little ball bearing in the center **** assembley (it's greased up) That's the key to the CLICKY!

As I was too lazy to buy the bulb covers (it was late) I just used a sharpie on some scotch tape and taped the bulbs with that. Seems to work from what I could see so far, might be a little dark though.

Default Speedhut.com LEDs

Go to www.speedhut.com and into their "accessories" section and click on the "6 high bright LEDs button. Here's what it says about them:

6 High Bright LEDs

Set of 6 LEDs. These LEDs will replace factory bulbs and change the stock lighting to a blue, red or green color. Use These LEDs to replace your stock bulbs to a different color. These LEDs never burn out. Most cars have 6 or less bulbs.

Wonder if these would work for the dash lights and what not??? Is somebody willing to get them and try them?

When I go to Autozone what do I ask the clerk? Where are your rubber bulb cover things? What i'm getting at, is there a more technical name that will not make me look like the dumb blond?
