Is This Evidence We are Getting a New Supra?
According to SupraMKV forums, Toyota has filed for a new trademark application! Alright, that doesn’t sound too interesting, auto companies file trademark applications all the time, and that really isn’t news. But, according to the forum, the trademark is for something called the “Toyota S-FR.” Now maybe this is a joke, or the person that filed the trademark application is dyslexic like I am, but the rumor behind this trademark is very interesting.
Let’s first take a trip down memory road. Toyota first showed off the FR-S concept about three years before the car became a reality. It had a few different names along the way, as the concept got closer and closer to the production car. Now it’s been about two years since the introduction of the FT-1 concept (shown here), and people are thinking that this “S-FR” is actually going to be the production version of the FT-1. Or in plainer terms, that the S in “S-FR” actually stands for Supra.
While Toyota has declined to comment on the trademark, we’re left with the real possibility that this S-FR is actually the production version of the FT-1. The LA Auto Show is only a few months away, could we possibly see the new Supra then? Stay tuned.
