The FR-S is a Ticket Magnet Says Old People
We here all love our cars. We just happen to like low slung, quick and nimble sports cars. That doesn’t make us criminals. Or does it? According to a recent report by Insurance.com, owners of both WRX’s and the FR-S get tagged for citations almost twice more often than drivers of other cars.
I came across this statistic in a local Chicago Tribune article which started off with “Certain cars attract certain drivers,” already I’m a bit annoyed at the writer. But it goes on to cite that Subaru’s and Scions “tend to be favored by younger drivers” implying anyone below the age of 25 is a hooligan and buys these cars to do stupid things with. And that’s where the writer totally loses me.
Not only does he insult me, as a driver of an FR-S who hasn’t had a ticket in the last 3yrs, but he denigrates the millennial group just like every other writer out there. Plus, while the WRX and FR-S are among the top ticketed cars, the data isn’t there. The company used a sample size of 550,000 people which comes out to be 1/600th of the population of the entire United States. I want to know how many people had each car, to bad the data isn’t given. For all I know it could be three FR-S owners and they could all be driving around like idiots or through a zone that the police are corrupt? You just don’t know.
I started writing this article wanting to comment how we, as young FR-S owners are being persecuted, but it has drastically changed into how the media gets “facts and figures” so wrong about our generation.
Here’s a basic helper on how not to get tickets. Don’t drive like an asshat, and you won’t get tickets. Also LONG LIVE THE FR-S!
