Why is there a Chevy V8 in this BRZ?
Well, it was bound to happen sometime. The guys at Weapons Grade Performance are the first to drop an LS2 engine into the bay of the FR-S. The LS is basically the sluttiest engine in the world. It pretty much fits anywhere.

Still! This is this is he first time we’ve seen it in the FR-S’s svelte chassis. In the wild, the LS2 considers the Corvette and the GTO it’s natural habitat. Frequently though, they expand into other engine bays, bringing their high horsepower and torquey goodness with them. When all is said and done, this car (which has affectionately been dubbed the BRZ06) will have at least 400hp and a V8 rumble. Ideally they’ll leave it unboosted to retain the character of a naturally aspirated engine. Who needs KERS when you have 6 liters of displacement?

If you’re concerned about weight throwing off the balance of the car, you don’t have to worry that much. The LS series of engines have always been fairly light. Certainly it won’t be as light as the boxer-4, but it’s only around 400lbs. That’ll hurt weight distribution, but it’s not exactly hanging a boat anchor off the front.

What do you think? Is 400hp worth the extra ballast?
